The Duke of Gordon Hotel is situated in the Town of Kingussie in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. The hotel was originally a Coaching Inn built in the mid 19th century as a horse changing stop for coaches traveling between Perth and Inverness. The hotel was extended several times during the 20th century to the building you see today. The hotel is a traditional style Highland Hotel offering the comfort of a country house but with modern amenities. The hotel was used as a filming location for the BBC Series 'Monarch of the Glen' from 2000 to 2005. The Clan Macpherson Gathering has been held at the Duke of Gordon every August since 1938. The hotel is a popular wedding venue and many family events have taken place in the Ballroom. All guest rooms are ensuite with flat screen Televisions, Direct Dial Telephone, Hospitality Tray and WiFi throughout the building. Ceud mìle fàilte (a hundred thousand welcomes)

Duke of Gordon hotel is a very big place but the helpful, friendly staff and the wonderfully warm rooms and the real wood fire burning in the reception area make this hotel a cosy and homely place. The room I had was exactly whst I asked for: warm, quiet and with a bath tub and shower. It had everything I needed from tea making facilities to a hair dryer and the radiators could be turned up or down as I preferred. Breakfast was also good and I choose to have it in my room on a tray to avoid being with other people (covid), even if the dining room was spacious and social distancing was being enforced. The staff were all friendly, discrete but always ready to help with any of my problems such as printing off documents for travelling that I needed when new restrictions were introduced just before I flew out. I left very early on my last day and I was given a packed lunch in place if the breakfast I missed. I would definitely stay at the D of G hotel again and look forward to it. Last but not least is the price per night. £45 is excellent value for money and definitely one of the reasons I chose to stay there but it also proved to be an excellent service and a real pleasure too. Thank you.

We stayed one night at the hotel in October 2020. We should have chosen another hotel ... The room was really old but I mean in a bad way. The need to change everything from the furniture to the carpet. And the food at the restaurant was not tasty (but was very cheap !)

We stayed here for 4 days just before and after our wedding. We were met by receptionist Jill who made us very welcome and explained all the Covid restrictions very well. We told her we were getting married the following day and she gave us a larger room which was wonderful as we had so much stuff! That evening when we went to dinner, there were flowers in a vase on our table that we could then take to our room that she had arranged. The day of our wedding the girls at the reception gave us lots of luck and when we returned, the bar staff had cordoned off an area of the conservatory for our post wedding lunch. Again with the Covid restrictions, they did so well to organise 6 of us on 3 tables but nice and private so we could still hold a conversation. The chef came through and presented us with the most amazing profiterole and white chocolate mousse cake. It's not often I'm speechless! What a wonderful thing to do. We ate twice in the restaurant and twice in the bar and could fault nothing. Over the weekend the Covid restrictions kicked in that there was no self service so breakfast was all table service. The staff were fantastic and did so well. We were disappointed to hear one old gentleman complain to the waitress that he had been given too much! I'm quite sure there would have been far more complaints had there not been enough. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, thorough and welcoming. We were also a little annoyed by another elderly gentleman who was complaining at reception that the room had not been serviced. It was made quite clear at check in that this wasn't being done and we were given a checklist to fill in and return should there be anything at all that we required. I could highly recommend a stay here. In these unprecedented times, they are doing a fantastic job with a smile.

This is a beautiful traditional Highland hotel in location handy for a variety of activities & attractions. We had a lovely (recently refurbished?) room on first floor at front overlooking the park. Comfortable big bed. Hospitality supply pack to go with kettle in room issued at Reception on check in & each morning thereafter in compliance with Covid regulations which were well catered for throughout hotel. Helpful bar staff with good bar meals. Breakfast was a bit basic but in keeping with Covid restrictions and adequate. The staff in the dining room were doing a sterling job and one way system was very clear. We had a great weekend. Would recommend visit to Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig 6 mile drive north.

Just arrived back from a two night stay in this hotel. The hotel is rally nice and comfortable with large rooms which are clean and have king sized beds to very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and very efficient when serving food and drink but the icing on the cake for this hotel is the excellent standard of food. They have to be complimented on their chefs as the food was absolutely fantastic. Beautifully presented, high quality and excellently cooked.
