Amazing place. The service was impeccable. The food is worthy of a Michelin rating. The riverview room with ensuite was spotless and very comfortable. Our stay here was amazing. Faultless. We cannot recommend The Cross highly enough. 6 stars!!

First of all, I must state in fairness, that we probably weren't the right customers for this establishment as we are not interested in fine dining. Ideally, it would suit people who wanted an elaborate dinner with accomodation on site. The room we were in, was an attic room in the eaves of the building which, although tastefully decorated, was... More

A peaceful, tranquil place to arrive at after a long drive from the Far North! This converted mill is beautifully designed, with a lovely woodland garden lovingly maintained. Our room was comfortable, with nice personal touches. We appreciated the seating area with a sofa - so many hotel rooms have only one chair, for some reason! Dinner is very much... More

This restaurant with rooms had comfortable rooms. Our room overlooked the burn and there was a bath as well as a shower. There were some easy walks which started in the car park. The food in the restaurant that evening comprised high quality ingredients with delicious flavours which was as good a many Michelin starred restaurants that we have eaten... More

Excellent location, with superb food both breakfast and dinner along with fine selection of wines. The rooms are clean, but basic and rather small and not places to luxuriate so don't expect that. Proprietors friendly and helpful; atmosphere is one of calm and quiet so dinner area is not in any way lively; although not a fan of music in... More

Dinner and breakfast was of the highest quality on both days, couldn’t fault it. The accommodation was great, the upstairs lounge, outside seating, had a really nice homely feel to it The Room (No9) – was fine enough, comfy bed, was disappointed that there no on bath for a soak after a long day. But was well rested and fed... More

This place is a secret - nice rooms with modern bathrooms. The restaurant is first class, one of the best meals with had, better than any 1 and 2 star Michelin restaurants we visited. The owners and the chef do an outstanding job.

We first stayed here two years ago, and this return visit was just as good, perhaps better. Dinner was excellent for us all, I love the attention to detail as I don't eat seafood but they go to great lengths to give the full dinner experience to us all. We had a choice of rooms on arrival and I recommend... More

We recently took an American friend with the surname ‘MacPherson’ on a mini tour of Scotland so this had to include a visit to the MacPherson museum in Newtonmore. Finding accommodation in this area wasn’t easy so with the help of Best Hotel Guide and Trip Advisor we settled on the Cross Hotel in Kingussie. Whilst the reports were excellent,... More

One night stay on the way to Thurso. Very warm welcome and pleasant, very clean room with a view of the stream near the hotel. Very good meal served in the attractive dining room. Excellent food starting with interesting canapés in the lounge area. Breakfast was also good and enhanced by the red squirrel feeding from nuts in a box... More
