Perfect location, near to the rail station, was welcomed by George, the manager (I think) and good around top bloke, he also cooks your meal. We are pubby type people and this hotel has a pub that is nothing special, although does have plenty locals, and plenty chat, just what we like, the hotel also has a lounge bar with pool table. Wifi is available but better on the ground floor rooms, we were upstairs so was intermittent, no real issue for us. The staff are very friendly and will accommodate your requirements. Most establishments in town open around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, although Duke of Gordon is open at 1100 till 1430 serving hot soup coffees and alcohol. Now traveling to Aviemore by bus can be a cheap affair or expensive, city link is the most expensive £15 return or Stagecoach £7.50 return if you get the right bus, only one bus to Aviemore and one back on a Sunday, so be prepared, train is £11.50 return, I have a bus pass, so that’s were that information came from

The Silverfjord and it’s wonderful people made my stay in the mountains an effortless one :) Despite only booking a single room, the owner upgraded me to a double at no extra cost which made me feel all the more at home! The location is stunning and within touching distance of everything you would need, from a laundrette to a co-op to a lovely local cafe. It’s also situated right next to the train station with an easy 45 minute commute to the nearest city. My room was clean and warm and had plenty of storage space. There was a kettle and an abundance of coffee but no fridge, however the staff were more than happy to store my food in the fridge in the kitchen :) Wifi is good as long as you’re not on the top floor but there is a cosy lounge to sit in and mingle if you’re struggling with signal. Genuinely couldn’t fault my time here especially for the asking price:) Can’t wait for my next visit upon my return to the mountains!

When we arrived at the Silverfjord hotel, there was no " welcome to the hotel and I hope you had a good journey", instead, the first words we heard were "You've not paid enough, you owe us £10, booking.com made a mistake and you owe us £10". So not the best of starts to say the least. After agreeing to pay the £10, we said we'd take our bags to our room and then come back down for dinner. "There's no food being served tonight". What? "There's no food being served tonight". This was really disappointing as we'd looked at the menu in advance and was looking forward to having dinner in the hotel. On the way to our room, a fire extinguisher was being used to hold a door open, wall paper was hanging off the walls due to damp and there were cobwebs all across the ceilings. When we got in to our room there were no complimentary toiletries and the shower curtain had mould along the bottom of it. We went to the Duke of Gordon Hotel for something to eat and enjoyed a lovely dinner with fantastic customer service. Needless to say, we regretted not booking there! On a plus side, when we returned to Silverfjord, the bed was really comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. When we went for breakfast in the morning, a different member of staff was working and it was like being in a totally different place from the night before. The man serving breakfast was an absolute joy - he made us very welcome and made us a delicious breakfast too. The hotel needs a good clean and tidy - it also needs to start providing complimentary toiletries. The chap working on Friday night needs to improve his customer services skills. Once this is done, it might be an ok hotel to stay at. Until then, stay at the Duke of Gordon!

I Unfortunately was booked out to this b&b. Freindly staff nice enough room till bed time mattress well passed expiry date could feel every spring asked for it to be remedied so extra sheets put on. In the end asked for a duvet to be put on mattress now bearable but really could do with new mattresses or bed toppers. Ps make sure you bring own hairdryer something I've not carried for 10 years. Good location but I personally would not choose to stay here sorry
