We had a great trip to Spindrift Cottage at Ruthven Steadings, we'd previously rented the one next door. I've put a review on the part of this site for which I received a link from the owners - historically it seems there are two places for reviews! The other part of the site does not allow photos nor can you review your review before posting! We had an excellent stay, the house is well equipped and very clean. We had a warm welcome. Facilities are thoughtful from bikes and table tennis to recycling. Cooking, eating, dishwashing, food prep and fridge equipment is very good. The porch is a great facility for storage/airing/drying (should that be needed!) of outdoor clothes and boots. We were very comfortable. The area is so good for walking and being east-ish it's generally quite a bit drier than Glasgow, so we spent a lot of time outside, lunch sandwiches were eaten outdoors every day even if on one or two days it was a later lunch. The Insh Marshes reserve has good flattish walking, the Ruthven Barracks are adjacent and there are other walks that start right from the house, as well as easy access to the quieter (than Aviemore) Kingussie and Feshie walking possibilities. The Highland Wildlife Park is always good for us, and in spite of being busier than expected its visitor facilities were well Covid-adapted. Kingussie has good local services and plenty of food possibilities. Newtonmore's bright lights [!!! it's lovely :-)] are nearby. Highly recommended. Unusual for us to be around the area other than NY and/or spring, but early autumn proved to be just as good.

We stayed in Spindrift cottage which was very well equipped and very comfortable. It was also suitable for an elderly parent with walking frame and mobility issues. Jules and Judy were very helpful and provided us with loads of information about the local area. Can recommend the Highland Animal park and Newtonmore Folk Museum. Also The Cross for fine dining and the McInnes house hotel. An added bonus to the cottage was 2 good quality mountain bikes to enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery on . Also table tennis table was available.

We visited the cottage for four nights in November and what a Fantastic visit at Ruthven Steading it was! We stayed in Spindrift Cottage and it did not disappoint! It was a perfectly kept cottage with all of the facilities you could need. The location was also a great starting points for many of the places we wanted to visit. Judy and Jules were great hosts. My partner who last visited when we was 10 said it was exactly the same as it was before. We would definitely come back here! Thank you for a brilliant stay!

We have stayed here several times. The location is amazing, the whole area fascinating - such a range of opportunities to experience the great outdoors for all ages and ability. The cottages provide everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay in the Highlands. New owners, Judy and Jules are warm, welcoming and helpful hosts - sharing knowledge of the local area. Easy to stock up on provisions in Kingussie - we love this place! Look forward to the next time. Highly recommend :-)
