I stayed in Pühajärve with my family for one night and it was a good experience. The booking system on hotel's webpage was really messy so we had to use 3rd party website but this was a minor inconvenience. The room was average but clean and we had a complimentary extra bed for our 4Y old daughter. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We really liked the pool area - a decent size pool for swimming, couple of kiddy pools and a jacuzzi with an amazing view. I think there was a sauna or two as well but we did not visit these. The focus of the hotel is on treatments not the saunas and water area. The breakfast was really abundant and tasty but this huge hotel had only one coffee machine (which was also slow and needed constant cleaning)! As some people drink coffee in the mornings there were two options - stand in the line for 10-15 minutes (and hope that the machine does not need cleaning in this period of time) or just give up. Many gave up. This fact just blew my mind - just get couple of more machines, there were around 100 people having breakfast when we were there! In spite of that coffee failure (do not mess with people's morning coffee!), the overall experience was very good and we would definitely return when needing a lodging in Otepää area.…
It was my second time staying there. The swimming pool looks very good and I enjoyed the sunset while swimming. In the sauna I could also enjoy the sunset. I am glad there was even steam sauna. The room I stayed was nice. Somewhat annoying were neighbours because they make different sounds and they either don't know this is easily audible (don't hear?) or don't care about others who want to go to sleep, like walking full foot on the floor dam-dam-dam, talking on the phone after midnight, computer or phone sounds, children. I wish there was better sound isolation. The old photos with historical information and paintings and other photos in the corridors are very nice. I had dinners in the pub. The vegan food was very good! I am not a vegan but the vegan menu was much more interesting to try than the other main dishes so I did that in both evenings. The overall prices seemed high but the food was good. And of course the surrounding area of the building complex: the beach of the lake. I happened to be there when there had been colder temperatures recently so the lake was covered by ice and snow and I could walk and visit the two nearest islands in the lake -- what an unexpected experience that was, amazing! Then the nearby forest which is between the Otepää central part and Pühajärve part: I happened to walk there when the sun came out to the end of the day and that was like paradise! It was my first visit to that forest with different hills and ski slopes so it was especially enjoyable. One can't get lost because there are roads around within a reasonable distance. Thankfully somebody had made paths to walk on with a machine so that made the trip possible at all with such snow. It is also possible to walk on pedestrians' path towards Kääriku (~10 km) which is very nice, that walk starts from the beach close to the complex, but I didn't do it this time. There is a higher level park behind the beach where the beach building is and one can see the lake from a higher place which is nicely different than just walking along the beach.…
It was a simple and a bit outdated hotel, I was expecting more. Spa was a disappointment as it was just a swimming pool and one small jacuzzi. These were very overcrowded and it was unpleasant. It was also unpleasant that you could see from the pool area to saunas and shower area as the saunas were with windows. Location is excellent and very beautiful, but I would probably not go back to this hotel.
There was a waterpipe behind the wall of our room and it creates a lot of noise 24/7. Our bathroom smells and you cant take a shower without overflooding the whole bathroom floor. The restaurant was totally packed during breakfast and we had to wait for a free table. No Covid19 rules have been followed at the restaurant other than hand disinfection possibility. Social distancing is ignored, food is not protected. Didnt visit the SPA area, hopefully its worth the 2 star rating. Never going back there though..
Visited the pub in the Puhajarve hotel once again. Every time I get there prices are higher but food still from deepfryer without any better service. You need to order at the bar and take your drinks, food is brought to your table. If you want a second drink you have to go to the same bar again. Etc Soup Seljanka the Russian meat soup came with a strong taste of horse raddish which I never got before and it was not nice. Thea assortment they changed to a cheaper one but price the same. Not nice either. All over this time wasn't ok at that place and I doubt if I will go back in the near future.
Excellent choice for summer and for winter. Hotel located between 2 lakes. You will access pool, saunas and gym at any time during your stay. Excellent food choice for good price in Pub and Tower coffe( recommend to visit before sunset). You WILL rest herenfrom stress, city noise. Just relaxing nature surroundings and SPA resorts. Location is good. You can access it with FREE public busses from Tartu or Valga. Or by car( free parking) Good wifi connection in any corner of hotel. Very friendly multi languages staff. Ready to help! You can order many health procedures for good price. This place is amazing for making trainee courses and relax rest. We liked very much and we will come again back. First the good things: receptionists of the hotel were friendly and attentive, room was clean, they met with our requirements for higher floor! That’s it! Bad: hotel is very outdated and extremely basic, doesn’t even have toiletries, fridge in the room. Pub downstairs is terrible, I got stomach pains for the rest of the day from their pre prepared dry food, that I had to order from the counter! Cook was touching everything with bare hands! Öak! To call this place a spa resort is so exaggerated! It’s a swimming pool with jacuzzi, that is it.Saunas are separate for man and women, with see through windows to the showers from pool area! Spa receptionist unfriendly! In that location there are more hotels to stay in, this one definitely doesn’t deserve the price!
Stopped at Pyhajarve for 2 nights - small family room was spacious and clean. We did not take any spa procedures so cannot comment on these but just wanted to point out to people who does not know the spa's history that a lot of procedures are not just for pampering but also of medical nature. Me and my daughter spent hours in pool and hot tub - its absolutely fab! It can get busy at times but somehow everybody were extremely respectful and there was a space for everybody. Spa & pub's asset are definitely employees - very polite, lovely & helpful. Meals - wide variety in the morning at the restaurant and in the evening at the pub. The weather during our stay was absolutely glorious so we also took several walks at lakeside and around Murrumetsa. Spa hotel highly recommended to those who want a bit of peace and quiet away from cities.. :) …
We stayed one night in pühajärve using the romance offer. The spa was a disappointment and really needs something new to it. So instead we spent our night eating which proved to be very rewarding- good food and big portions! And of course the area is amazing.
I like South Estonia and I like Otepää-town with Pühajärve village. There is a beautiful lake and the best place for holidays on summer time. We had never visited this spa by the lake before and this was the first and last time. The room was a nightmare and the spa was a total disappointment. If you want to lay on the bed and watch TV, this is practically impossible, because they have put a shelf on the wall and you can't support your head to pillows: there is a shelf! In spa you can find a large pool and a jacuzzi plus 2 small baths: Finnish sauna and steam sauna. And that's all! Believe me, in Estonia you can find lot of beautiful spas, but this is the worst one. What we liked? There is a nice restaurant where you can have a breakfast and dinner too, but visitors prefer a public bar for dinner downstairs . There were delicious dishes, but unfortunately you have to stand in queue for ordering, because waitresses are there only for cleaning the tables and bringing the food. They have also a fabulous cafe, but you have to climb and climb and climb upstairs, like a stairway to heaven. Nice place for having a secret meeting with your lover. They offer only drinks and a cake there. And breathless view of course!…
