We spent 2 nights (including my birthday) and were warmly welcomed at arrival. The place sits in a stunning surrounding that just takes your breath away. We spent hours looking at the views. The staff is very professional and friendly, and the highlight was the sommelier, Valeria. She advised us each night on wine options and was just amazing. She...

Kauri Cliffs looks fabulous in the professional web site photos and, unusually, this matches reality. The resort is spectacularly positioned overlooking the eastern seaboard of New Zealand’s North Island. It is located on a large farming estate which has been carefully and very thoughtfully put together by the Robertson family (Julian Robertson, Tiger Fund). The hotel and lodges reflect careful...

This surely must be one of the most beautiful golf courses in New Zealand. We are not golfers per se, but enjoyed every moment from the warm welcome to our final departure. We feel three nights is a minimum you should stay to get a good feel of the hospitality, food, surrounds, walks and golf( if you play). The weather...

Huge, beautiful lodge just like picture on internet. But MUCH MORE!!! The lodge is surrounded by a gorgeous lush green 18-hole golf course with AWESOME views of Matauri Bay*s turquoise blue waters. We are NOT golfers, but we scheduled a golf CART and drove the entire golf course as SLOWLY as possible to make this experience LAST as LONG AS...

The resort is incredible. The rooms even better. Staff fantastic. It is almost like being in your private resort, with beautiful grounds. Food was also great. When it came to golf the experience is outstanding. It is the Pebble Beach of New Zealand. They filmed here a wonderful world of golf episode with Fred Couples. We visited this resort a...

This review is a tricky one to write. On the one hand, the property is possibly the very finest on the planet. Additionally, the staff is very kind and well meaning. When you combine preternatural beauty, with nice service, and a plethora of activities, the product should be five star. However .... Kauri Cliffs misses the mark. A resort with...

My husband brought me here for a second honeymoon and he could not have chosen a better place. We were greeted at the door by our hosted, wine pressed into our hands as our car and luggage was whisked away. The lodge was gorgeous, expansive and restful, well appointed and immaculately kept. we walked through to the balcony, to breathtaking...

Our first real stop in NZ after decompressing in Aukland for one night. Met at the Kerikeri Airport and driven the 30 minutes to the Resort. The main lodge is perched on a hill with amazing views of the golf course and Pacific Ocean. The rooms are in separate cottages down one of several paths. Large, well appointed, comfortable beds,...

The setting, the views, the cottages, the staff, the food...I can't work out which is the most memorable about The Lodge. I would recommend it to anyone travelling to the area, young or old, golf lover or not you will love The Lodge. My only regret was not staying for longer.

What an amazing stay. The service we experienced exceeded our expectations on all levels. The cottages are gorgeous and the main lodge is so beautiful and maintained to such a high standard. The golf facilities are world class and the course in excellent condition and is as challenging as you would like to make it. The manager John was delightful...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the far north of New Zealand lies an unspoiled peninsula. High cliffs and a few ranches on this welcoming island which won the hearts of Julian and Josie Robertson. After designing a magnificent 18-hole golf course, the couple created a splendid colonial residence with outlying cottages. Space is the real luxury, the suite an apartment, the bathroom a spa.
