We came for a night and for the price we got everything we come possibly need. The shower was great, the room was at a good standard and comfy beds. Slept very well and was in a great area, Easy to get into town and onto the motorways. Hardly had any staff interaction but that is because we had everything we needed.

Functional mid range hotel at a mid range price. What more can you expect. In my case the room hadn't been serviced when I turned up (late evening). Not bothered about covid particularly but it seems inexcusable when the hotel guests can be counted on the finger of one hand. Otherwise clean and tidy and helpful staff. Noise from local main roads, double rooms seem to be made of singles pushed together - mine were at different levels. Otherwise par for the course for a business hotel.

Highly recommend beds were exceptionally comfortable. Very clean. Obviously only vital stays allowed so it was quiet too. Great location from motorway. As I’m not local I wasn’t sure what food I could have. Ended up with kfc rice box for dinner and subway breakfast roll for breakfast.

Amazing value for money, lovely spa break all the staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions at all. It was my first time at a spa and I loved it. I didn’t know what to expect but when I got there I was amazed with all the different things that were included in the hotel price.

Arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, checked in, COVID precautions in place at reception desk. Allocated a room on the 3rd floor, made my way up and into the room and was immediately disappointed. The room was dated and and had an all over grubby appearance, marks all over the walls and skirting's. There was a part of the ceiling coming away and the bottom of the wardrobe was broken. this was all a bit disappointing but then I started noticing the actual grime that was over most of the room that was obviously due to lack of a thorough clean. There was what looked to be tea or other beverage splashed all over the bedside table, there was a remnant of what I suspect was food on the beside table. The glass topped desk also had food residue and a stick patch on the top. There was a dead fly stuck to the curtain, another hanging from the ceiling and cobwebs where the headboard meets the bed. All of this could've have been remedied with a thorough clean of the room. This level of cleanliness and hygiene is unacceptable in normal circumstances but we are in the midst of a pandemic, with the North East being a hot spot. Its just not good enough. I also have to comment on the cups being wrapped in cling film, doesnt look nice and not sure it achieves anything! On the positive side, the lady at reception was very helpful, moved me to another room that was cleaner and was very apologetic. I was also approached the following morning by a gentleman who apologised for the room. I would not stay here again though.

Dear 328anmarried, Thank you for sharing your findings after your recent visit in October. I am so sorry that the room offered to you in the first place fell well short of our usual standards. I am happy that we were able to rectify this and offer a room that was to our usual high standards. I will certainly be discussing this with the housekeeping team and will also ask the maintenance team ro repaint the room and repair the ceiling tape in the shower room. We do have recently refurbished rooms on our ground floor that are of a premium standard. I am sorry that you will not be choosing to stay with us again. Kind Regards Matthew Emery Resort Manager - Durham Resort.
