Room okay. Tidy/clean. Secure building. Friendly staff. Hello, Tracey and assistant-manager Kevan! (he took all my sweets haha j/k/). We only stayed one night but the service was great and I had a wonderful sleep.
I booked a stay a few days ago after I found out that University students would not be allowed to return for face to face learning until the 17th may. Since my exams are in early may, I needed to travel to collect revision notes and books from my accommodation – which I checked was fine to do from the University. Government guidance for travel was also permissible for two reasons: education and moving. Once we arrived the receptionist (Dave) asked whether our visit was business or leisure. I said leisure as didn’t feel business covered moving or education. Smugly the receptionist stated that we therefore couldn’t stay which, at almost eleven at night after over seven hours of driving, caused extreme stress. As we tried to explain that our visit was perfectly legal, he and another colleague constantly interrupted us, was extremely rude and kept replying “I don’t get paid enough for this” rather than being helpful. Instead of actaully listening to us, as the customer, both spent more time complaing about working for Travelodge. I got extremely stressed and tried to explain that their behaviour was aggravating my diagnosed anxiety – to which the colleague (Margert) raised her eyes and very rudely scoffed and said, “well we all have that”. Once they realised, after I again explained that I had checked before travel that our reasons were permissible (myself, travelling for education and to move belongings from my term time second home, my parents who had to drive me as the journey was too far for one individual and a sibling who was too young to stay alone and couldn’t stay with others due to COVID restrictions) they stated that they would allow us to stay but would report are details in the hope we would be fined, causing further anxiety and stress.…
Decent dog friendly hotel. Very friendly staff and warm welcome. Comfy bed. Slept well. Nearby road noisy from early morning. Double glazed window kept the noise down but I wouldn't have liked to sleep with the window open. Older Travelodge so some wear around the edges but OK overall.
I stayed here with a colleague a couple of months ago. I’d meant to leave a review at the time but forgot. The staff here are amazing. My colleague and I had a lovely chat with the manager Dave who really took the time to get to know us. Another staff member, Linda, showed us directly to our room and also told us about the fascinating history of the building and pointed out some of the remaining structures from its past life (it used to be a railway station). These staff members really went above and beyond to be welcoming and kind and we were both incredibly impressed with them.
What an amazing hotel this is, cheap and also clean and tidy just what you want when staying. Also amazing staff members on the reception desk, when needing something for the room and also just genuinely friendly and also gave great recommendation on where we could find somewhere to eat. was outstanding the service and the 2 girls that were on when I received this service was Roxy-Leigh and Alex they are an asset to the Travelodge and are doing an amazing job especially with COVID going on well done and keep doing what your doing!
