Nice hotel, overlooking windermere and friendly staff. Rooms OK, but some fittings falling off in the shower cubicle. Breakfast was OK, but bacon tended to be overcooked. We did booked into the Swan Inn in Grasmere, but Mcdonald hotels have closed it, even though Grasmere is apparently open and accessible according to locals. Moving here was a last minute change,...

Rooms well appointed and comfortable. Restaurant food lovely with good ambience although would have preferred larger portion for main course. Would stay again and would recommend to others. Did not use the spa facilities but would have if check in was earlier. Check in was 4pm

Staryed 2 nights 18 - 20 January. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel. We had a marvellous room overlooking the lake, and from the start of the stay it was clear the hotel would do everything to make the stay enjoyable

My wife and I booked a 2 night break in January and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel wasn't cheap but in the end we felt we got value for money. Our room (226) had a nice outlook onto the lake and we enjoyed sitting by the bay window in the room drinking a bottle of bubbly looking out...

Had a lovely couple of nights at The Old England hotel DBB to celebrate Mrs Sweys birthday. Its everything you expect from an old 4star hotel. Big flat screen TV comfy beds overpriced drinks and friendly staff. The view from our room over the lake was great. Not too many locals employed at the hotel though which sort of detracts...

We stayed in room 302, a "feature king" room. Massive super king sized bed, possibly the most comfortable bed i have ever had in an hotel. Stunning views of the lake and friendly staff. We didnt eat in the hotel, but use the Spanish tapas bar Bodegas (recommended). Valet parking is expensive at £10 per night, but for the lack...

This could be a great hotel, the views and location are perfect but having now stayed three times in a year I have to agree with the majority of reviewers that the restaurant is poor. The main issue is the food, slow to arrive and rarely as described on the menu. 'Wild Cod in a clam chowder sauce' was watery...
