Spent 3 weeks here whilst working in the area. A no nonsense, comfortable hotel with updated amenities. Good bathrooms and comfortable beds. Excellent breakfasts! Bar meals very good with changing specials during the week. Excellent bar with friendly locals. Professional and extremely friendly staff. Helpful to a fault with a wonderful sense of humour. Highly recommended if you are staying...

My wife and I stayed here at the beginning of November when attending a wedding in nearby Aboyne. I've stayed here a number of times, but it was the first time for my wife. The room we had was large and extremely comfortable, with the heating on for us when we arrived. Well appointed and ideal for relaxing. The breakfast...

Enjoyed impromptu Sunday lunch. Kids menu was reasonable. Perhaps they were busy in another area as the waiting staff weren't very attentive and had to go up to the bar twice to ask for more drinks. Parked easily in the area across the road. Returned again with family and again service was slow but the food was nice once it...

It was a good decision to stay here for the five days: close enough to use this hotel as base to see a lot of the Highlands in this area. I had a very good room, clean, well maintained. It was a bit dark due to the closness of window and balcony. Breakfast was opulent, a great choice and of...

The Commercial Hotel by name but it is a jolly nice place to stay. The bedrooms are modern with en suite bathrooms and the food is good. Two bars and there is a beer garden. Car park at rear but most people park in the square in front of the hotel.

Thanks so much for your positive comments - we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. The hotel's name is a common one for Inns and Hotels throughout Scotland seen rarely throughout the rest of the UK. As far as we can tell it was given this name in the early 1800's and although it may not fit with modern...

This hotel provided four women with versatile accommodation in the apartment joining the hotel. It has a huge car park and a separate entrance to the apartment. Ground floor twin in which my daughter & her friend slept in. Upstairs the lounge which had a tv. A big kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal. A double bedded...

Thanks so much for your positive review and that you enjoyed your stay. My apologies you were unable to access the free wi-fi which is normally easily accessible and consistent throughout the hotel, including the apartment. It's possible the extender was temporarily 'down' ( as you only stayed one night ), and it's a shame you didn't advise us of...

We stopped for lunch at The Commercial Hotel without a booking. The hotel was clean, well decorated and in good repair. We were greeted as we arrived and shown to a table immediately and our drinks order taken. The menu was fantastic, covering a lot of the old favourites and some new nice twists. I had the Chicken Maryland with...

Although small (11 rooms) this hotel provided the best accommodations and personal sevice that I've experienced in 45 years of travel. The rooms are comfortable, roomy, and spotless. The owner greeted the guests each morning for breakfast and was continuously accessible as they live on the premises. The intimate lounge and restaurant are social centers for the community and provide...
