We enjoyed a lovely warm welcome from Laura, the manager, when we arrived after a windswept walk to High Cup Nick. Wet and tired, we found a brew in the kitchen, tons of hot water for the shower and a tasty supper to follow before collapsing into our cosy bunks. It doesn't come much better than that! The only thing... More

In most reviews you will see mention of the 'small' car park. The youth hostel is in an elevated position from the main road and as you turn into the drive there is space to the left for four cars (at a squeeze). I thought this was an overflow and proceeded up the hill to the hostel where there is... More

Inadequate parking when fully booked. The place is tired. The beds were for very little people and I'm only 5'4" but my feet were hanging off almost. The bottom sheet looked like it was nearly worn out. The window was filthy with cobwebs and flies over it, tired curtains. Showers and loos good. Communal areas small but clean and adequate.... Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband and two children. Absolutely stunning views. Very reasonably priced. It isn't great if you don't drive as it is very rural. Luckily, we had a car. There's high/low force, Barnard Castle, Eggleston Abbey etc etc which are all in driving distance. The hostel itself has a small but very well... More

Really enjoyed our recent stay here. Great location, clean, comfy beds and had lovely atmosphere. Not for people needing civilisation but fantastic if you want to escape into the countryside. Had very nice view of hills from dining room.

I was booked to stay here for one night in early June this year. I turned up fully exhausted after a long moorland walk and the manageress asked me if I had a booking. I told her I had, made through the YHA booking system, and gave her the booking reference details. 'But the YHA has cancelled that booking', she... More

I've been here 2 nights and so far is the best yha I've ever been. Clean, quiet and located in a beautiful place. The receptionist was exceptionally kind and helpful with us. The only bad thing I can say is about the shower that was broken and little short of water. We didn't use the kitchen but was fully furnished... More

We stayed at Langdon Beck while walking the Pennine Way. It is a remote, but easily accessible hostel being just off the Pennine Way and on a B road. The hostel was warm and comfortable and the shared area was pleasant to sit in, was clean and relaxed. The kitchen was also clean and hot drinks were available. Our room... More

Excellent location and a very amicable manager. We stayed for just one night and it turned out that we were the sole occupants of the Hostel. It is located in small quaint village and there are a lot of short and long walking routes close by. I must point out that the parking area is bit small but otherwise it... More
