After trying to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday night impossible, we just happened upon this little gem. And I am so glad we did. It has the rustic charm of a village pub, the food was lovely, homemade pub grub, the beer was a delicious and the staff were really friendly. Only a couple of miles outside of...

Dinner with friends while staying nearby. The waitress was exceptionally good, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble including moving us to another table. Food was served quickly and was really tasty, plentiful and piping hot. It was an experience we all enjoyed and we are looking forward to a return visit.

The pub was exactly what we were after, cosy, welcoming, dog and kid friendly and greats service. 7 of the 8 of us ordered the Steak and Black Pudding pie and it was awesome. The bill was very reasonable and we...

We stayed here on a Saturday night. The staff were extremely helpful and the food delicious. The room was very comfortable and we had an excellent breakfast. Good place to stay for visiting Barnard Castle and for enjoying walks in Teesdale.

We were given details of the Fox and Hounds as our other place stopped trading, we were attending a wedding at Lartington Hall, Barnard Castle. Thankfully they were able to accommodate us for three nights, the landlady was extremely helpful, kindly organised our taxi pick ups. We phoned Nicola when we arrived and she quickly came to the pub to...

Great inn in stunning Teasdale. Incredibly friendly staff, great atmosphere and the food was spot on. Breakfast the next morning was equally as good - local produce cooked whichever way you like, and set us up for a nice long hike in the upper Teasdale valley.

We visited several times while on holiday in our campervan nearby, twice for drinks and once for dinner. There are a couple of guest ales as well as Black Sheep bitter and all were well kept and tasty. There is a dog friendly room on the left as you enter and plenty of tables for dog lovers to enjoy a...
