Wonderful, stay at the Hoops Inn. James and the team were falling over themselves to welcome us, help us and look after us during our stay. We had dinner in the pub twice and both meals were fantastic. Great value for money, and in my opinion, the wine was reasonably priced too. We had a quiet room with an ensuite shower room and everything was just fine. The Hoops is ideally located for visits to Clovelly, Heartland Quay and the North Devon coastline, which is of course stunning. Highly recommended to walkers travellers etc. Thank you James for a wonderful stay. See you soon.

I stayed with a group of classic car enthusiasts for two nights- it was our base for some drives out . Bedroom was clean and warm with a good shower. A nice bar with some good ale choices ! We ate breakfast and dinner on both days - food is delicious! It’s quite an achievement to serve a large group at the same time and all the food be hot- but the Hoops team achieved this- my lamb was fantastic !! We made a late request for a smaller group of us to watch the six nations on our return on Saturday- nothing was too much trouble and it was all set up for when we got back

This was an on spec booking on the day as we were let down by our booked accommodation. Having seen the Hoops Inn on our way to our booked accommodation we thought how inviting and lovely it looked. So when our booking failed, I immediately got online to check they had availability. Fortunately they did and we couldn't have been more delighted. What a lovely, warm welcoming place. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food absolutely excellent. Room 4 was super with a brand new fitted bathroom. And what's more it was very sensibly priced. We couldn't have wished for a better alternative to our original booking and no doubt far superior at a comparable price. Thanks to all the staff, and their excellent service and attention to detail, we had a truly pleasant experience and would definitely go back.

Went for our anniversary/Valentine's lunch. We always go here for special occasions and always for lunch. Having booked we were shown to our table with menus. Usually a few minutes pass and someone comes to take our drinks order and then out food order. This time after quarter of an hour no-one had come but it did look like there was one waitress working alone. I went to the bar to ask if someone was coming for our order only to be told lunch time we had to order at the bar. When I said this had never happened before and that we only ever eat there at lunchtime I was met by a blank look. So food and drink was ordered. Once the food came it was ok, but we weren't asked at any point if it was ok and no-one came to take our plates or ask if we wanted dessert. So we paid and left. We shall go back as my mother-in-law wants to go at Easter. However, it maybe an idea to seat people and point out to go to the bar when ready to order. Shame because the service has always been so good previously

Went for Sunday lunch. Was one of the tastiest roasts we have had. Roast Pork and roast Sirloin of Beef(from the local Ruby Red which is famous in this area of Devon). Very tasty vegetables and good service. Beautiful thatched inn with large carpark

We stayed here in between Christmas and New Year for one night. We were in Room 3. It was a lovely room, comfy bed and pillows. Two lovely armchairs at the foot of the bed. The bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath, a nice extra was had two bathrobes. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely we both had Pan fried scallops, spiced beetroot puree, baby leeks and honey glazed pork belly followed by pan fried duck breast served with a black cherry glaze, parsnip puree, potato fondants and romanesco cauliflower. Excellent meal with a bottle of wine. Breakfast the next morning we had ceral and yoghurt, toast and jam, tradtional cooked English breakfast, coffee and orange juice. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay so much that we have booked again for December 2024.

We stayed here for 1 night to break up our journey to the south of Cornwall and to explore the local area. On arrival there is a large car park with plenty of space. Be warned though there is no lighting, so when it's dark, its very dark on the car park as it's set back at thew rear of the property. Check in was easy, and staff were pleasant. Room was a good size and dog friendly which is great. It was clean and had everything you needed for a night, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and some biscuits were a nice touch. Room was rear facing so no traffic noise in the morning and we had a great sleep. Breakfast was included. We opted for the traditional breakfast which tasted great. The only thing lacking on it though were n beans, which is a personal preference. All in all a nice stay.

Our son recently moved down here so decided to come and visit with the dog before Christmas. Couldn't fault this place, the room was ideal for us and very comfortable too,the dog was exhausted from the 257 mile dive down and settled down really well with the staff very welcoming to him. Had some food in the bar with our son and his girlfriend in the evening which was really good along with some excellent beer too. Although the building itself is on the roadside, the rooms are at the rear and never had any traffic disturbance in the night. Breakfast in the morning was in the very pleasant surroundings of the bar area as we had the dog but to us was much nicer than the more formal setting of the restaurant. The breakfast was a good choice with juice, tea and coffee,,set us up for the day and the long drive back to Grantham. Would highly recommend a visit or stay in the hoops if you are in or are planning on coming to the area. Staff really friendly too, even offered our dog a sausage for his breakfast which is above and beyond as not something they had to do Will stay here again when down visiting The room we had was really good value for money too and includes breakfast.
