Booked the Winter package, which is a room, champagne on arrival and 20% off food and wine spent in the hotel. Initial impression of the room was that it was small. After settling in, I realised most of the light globes didn't work, including bedside lamps, and the was muck on the wall which should have been noticed and cleaned....

This hotel is in a very impressive old manor from the 16th Century. It features very nice gardens. Some people may like the history loaded atmosphere. I did not. Its dark hallways and its furniture gave me the shivers... if it had not been too late to look for another hotel I would not have spent the night there... To...

My husband and I married at this amazing venue on 9th October last year. Although it was only 3 months ago it seems such a long time ago - we will cherish those memories and that day forever. We were lucky enough to enjoy another visit on our 2 month-versary on December 9th. Again, our stay was absolutely amazing. From...

My partner and I spent New Year's Eve 2016 and New Year's Day 2017 here based on his whim - he'd stayed at an inferior hotel in the area a few years back and had ended up glumly looking at better hotels online - this one looked the most promising and he'd subsequently always wanted to come here. I'm so...

This hotel feels warm and welcoming but it's little out of town. It is good for some escape from the crowd. They serve very good breakfast and the rooms are spacious. It is totally recommended if you want to spend sometime in the country side of London but at same time within 30 min from central London.

We stayed en-route to a mid-morning LHR flight back to the US....had an early Sunday evening dinner and had three rooms between family members....no time for breakfast but only 25 minutes away and much more relaxing than a night at the usual airport places Restaurant was excellent, bar fun, neither inexpensive but worth it for the quality of food and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Probably built as a Royal Hunting lodge and very much a stately home since the 16th century, Great Fosters is now a prestigious hotel, awarded 4 red stars by the AA. Set amongst 50 acres of gardens and parkland, the hotel is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, while the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds three sides of the formal garden. All the suites and bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, whilst the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more contemporary in style. The refurbished Coach House offers luxurious accommodation with the latest plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and fabulous bathrooms. The hotel has two restaurants - The Estate Grill has been awarded two rosettes by the AA and serves a simple and seasonal menu with many of the dishes using produce grown on the estate and cooked on a Josper grill. The Tudor Room was awarded a Michelin star and three rosettes by the AA in October 2016 and is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. ... more   less
