My husband and I had a lovely two nights stay at Knockninny Country House. The owners & their staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our bedroom was very comfortable and had the most beautiful lough view. We enjoyed a delicious fry each morning with as much freshly brewed coffee as we wanted.
The outside fire was also a great hit as was the Guinness!!
Thankyou for a great stay...we will be back!!!

We had a family reunion on Knockninny Country House. The place and the staff were delightful. They opened up specially for us on an evening they are normally closed. The barbecue food was very well cooked and the waiting staff were very friendly

We awoke to the fire alarm at 3 am and hauled the kids downstairs. Us and other guests discovered that the building had been left completely unstaffed in breach of tourism regulations and an act of utter gross negligence. We had no idea if there was a real fire or if all the guests had evacuated as some who had been at dinner we could not see. The inside rooms had been left unlocked and we were scrambling around in the dark.

There was no emergency contact number or staff contact details left on display anywhere, so we had no option to call the fire brigade. We spent an hour in the meantime with another couple after locating the main board for the alarm trying to deactivate it after establishing there didn’t seem to be a fire. It was the middle of a storm so in the meantime I had to leave my wife and kids in the car, locked and frightened as anything could have happened.

Once disabled the guests including my kids went back up to the room. I heard the fire brigade knock on the side door about 5.30 am and went down on my own to let them in and they had to retest the alarm Causing it to ring so the guests were all woken up again. I could not provide them with details of the owners or staff and could only help by pointing them to alarm switches and explaining what had happened. I left them monitoring from outside and went back to bed.

In a daze I awoke around 8am after 2 hours sleep to the fire alarm going off again coupled with the window cleaner being allowed to clean everyone’s windows! My wife called reception to say could they stop the alarm test and do it later, and before being able to explain that everyone was broken and exhausted from the night’s incidents, she was greeted with angry invective from Gail down the phone. I went downstairs to try to explain events. I felt I was right to be annoyed and was even more so after this phone call. Again before I could explain the night’s events at all, she hurled abuse and aggression at me almost touching me and snarling in my face and jabbing fingers at my chest, in utter disregard for social distancing (the irony given the Covid set up). In her warped sense of reality she said I was being aggressive. She shouted “get out, get out”.

She shouted don’t you know our night porter was injured in the storm in the night (I didn’t manage to establish when or where etc.). I said I didn’t because I was with the fire brigade at 5.30 and while they noted trees had come down in the area they did not mention this. If this is indeed true it is tragic and very sad and I sincerely hope the individual makes a good recovery and will be ok, and it may explain her emotions this morning; however the fact remains the staff must have left the place when closing up without any hand over as nobody ever arrived and the building was left empty in a storm inhabited by guests who have no knowledge of the remote area. The negligence is shocking.

And then to be greeted with aggression and abuse in front of my children and other guests (I was not alone in being verbally attacked) after not having slept through the night (while trying to help manage the
situation in her and her staff’s absence).

The most upsetting holiday experience I have endured. I have no doubt my wife and other guests will have more to add in due course.

Visited for the fundraising for Parkinson’s event. Greeted by a young blonde bubbly waitress and she was the only positive from this place. Owner walking round in a fleece and jeans, far from professional. We dined and spent a couple of hours here so right bit of money spent between us all. The owner hadn’t even the manners to say hello never mind ask was everything okay with our meal. No one came near us to check was our meal ok. After our meal we were outside it was raining but we were under canopies. No one about to put sticks on the fire and at 9.15pm at night we put on a few logs only then did the manager speak and quite rudely stating Do not put anything else in that fire. Customer service is disappointing and we certainly won’t recommend this place to anyone nor will we be back. Hope to goodness the summit decides to take their business elsewhere next year.

This really is a very special place indeed . We are currently touring the Erne on a hire cruiser and decided to meet up with other family members . Knockninny proved to be the perfect place . From the moment we arrived customer service was excellent . Food was absolutely delicious and we all felt very at ease in the wonderful outdoor area in front of a roaring fire . We will definitely be back 😊 thank you very much

Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Owner swore and shouted at guests in front of their children. Hotel left unstaffed and unsafely locked all night including during a 2 hour fire alarm where guests and fire brigade had to clear the building with nobody from hotel present. “Gail” verbally abusive to guests at breakfast. Shameful and disgraceful lack of safety and manners.

Just had a beautiful Sunday lunch at Knockninny Hotel...top class dining experience. Good choice of menu...the roast beef was 'melt in your mouth', starter and dessert also first class. Service was excellent...all in all a little gem of a hotel overlooking the Fermanagh lakelands & well worth a visit.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch meal. I am a very pixky eater and this was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. Lots of varied vegetables which is unusual and coild tell the prodice was all fresh and I think locally sourced. Happy to support local businesses but even happier with the friendly and fun service we received

Is this a good halfway point between Galway and Belfast? Thanks!!
Answer from GAIL C

Good Afternoon. We are 11 miles from Enniskillen. We are approximately 5 miles from theNational Trust property; Florencecourt House and the Marble Arch Caves. Florencecourt has fabulous woodland walks. From Dublin it is a straight road N3 to Cavan then to Belturbet which brings you on to the main A509 of which we are situated just off. I hope thus helps. Yours sincerely Gail Clarke
