Finn Lough is celebrated for its magical atmosphere and unique accommodations, such as cozy bubble domes and rooms with fire pits that guests find enchanting. The amenities, including a spa and personalized touches like breakfast hampers, consistently earn praise. While some travelers find the hotel pricey, others believe the unique experiences justify the cost. The service is often lauded for being attentive, though a few guests have reported less than stellar encounters. Cleanliness is a standout feature with the hotel maintaining spotless facilities. However, opinions on the rooms are mixed, with some pointing out delays and a disconnect between luxury prices and basic amenities.

Loved this place from start to finish. We arrived for a 1330 spa prior to our 1530 check in which was amazing. The lady at the spa was very friendly and made sure we were well briefed on the experience we were about to have. Wandering around woods visiting the different rooms with the saunas and hot tub was fantastic we really enjoyed it. Afterwards the reception staff who were all lovely people escorted us to our bubble via the golf buggy taxi and made sure we knew where everything was on the resort I.e bar, restaurant etc. The premium bubble dome was well worth the cost even with the clouds it was fantastic. The mini bar was filled for us with a few beers mini bottle of Prosecco. There was a personalised message left welcoming us with a large bottle of Prosecco in an ice bucket ready for us. We went gin tasting which was brilliant. The lakeside bar man is a legend and knew exactly what he was talking about. We left here slightly worse for wear! We had dinner at 8.30pm and the menu was very fancy but enjoyable. The staff across the board are great people who just to make your time there as chilled as they can. Little touches like beginners astronomy guides in your room to look at star constellations was nice…..Although it was cloudy for us we did see the plough :)……. All in all great place I’m glad I came across it online. We will be back!! Thanks to all the team at Finn Lough!!!

I have just arrived back from an excellent overnight stay at Finn Lough. After a prompt check in we were then transported to our premium bubble dome via golf buggy. Magdelena was very informative whilst showing us around the bubble which is very secluded in the woods, privacy is not an issue. Inside is warm and cosy, there is a stove heater in case it gets cold. You can change your thermostat accordingly & there is a heated blanket- so nice and cosy during winter months. There is a record player & records which is a nice touch. There was also a radio with an EU plug so unfortunately we couldn't play the radio as there was no-where to plug it into. There was also games, a poleroid camera and photo album to use during your stay. As we opted for a premium bubble there was a standalone bath which was lovely a night to lye in the bath and watch the stars- certainly an experience! The location of the bubble adds to a very tranquil environment. It was lovely to lye in bed under the stars, listen to the wind & rain. We even seen a red squirrel the next morning in the trees surrounding our bubble. However we would have liked to see a less formal dinner menu. We went to the A la Carte restaurant however the food wasn't for us and cost us over £100. So very expensive for a meal we didn't enjoy. Although breakfast was lovely and we couldn't fault it one bit. Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay but we would hope for a better range of informal food before we would return.

As I sit here having my dinner, I thought I would tell you all about what customer delight is. Unfortunately Covid prevented my partner from travelling to Finn Lough. I thought you only live once however, so sod it I will take the opportunity and venture out, best decision ever.

From the moment I arrived I have been shown such warmth by the staff. For those who travel like myself, this is really hard to capture on a consistent basis given we are all different personalities. Surprisingly, Finn Lough has hands down achieved this by employing a great team that ensures service excellence never falters. This is across all sites. I would like to give a special mention to Madelina (sorry if that is spelt incorrectly) and Nuala who truly stood out for me in terms of their love for the place and their authenticity.

Some of the staff have the opportunity to work in different service locations which means they have more well rounded experience but also can focus on a key area of service excellence, I think this is very astute of the owners to promote this.

There are so many other good things I have to say about Finn Lough. Firstly, the hygiene standards are impeccable. While the location lends itself to being Covid safe, that should not take away from the extensive efforts all staff go to to ensure those standards are maintained throughout. Secondly, the spa is a wilderness sanctuary. Every review is an accurate reflection of how great it is. This is a ‘must do’ if you visit.

This time around I stayed in one of the sky suites and have now transferred to a bubble dome, both are of an extremely high standard in terms of aesthetics, cleanliness and space.

This is a truly unique and wonderful experience, one that should not be missed. If you feel like an escape from everything, pin Finn Lough on your map, it is worth every single penny!

My friend kindly invited me to an overnight Spa break staying in a lakeside lodge.
Checkin was smooth and efficient and our appointed lodge was beautifully positioned by the lough.
The lodge itself is very well finished and would sleep up to 6. ( we tried to book the package for 6 for us but were told it was not possible)
Decor in the lodge is really lovely. Split over 3 floors everything you need for a stay is there ( minus the milk for a coffee - a small welcome basket would be very handy as there are no nearby shops)
The beds were comfortable and the lodge itself super cosy.
We had a gin tasting experience priced at £19.50pp with Dobrey from Bulgaria. What an asset to Finn Lough this man is! He was so welcoming and informative. My friend and I really enjoyed the gins Dobrey recommended. His customer service is second to none. He obviously loves hospitality... right down to resting his hand on his back as he walks off after serving you! We could have sat in the cosy bar all evening beside the lit stove.
Dinner in the restaurant looked delicious but at £30+ for one course we thought it was way over priced. We had brought our own buffet for that evening.
The sundown package included a fire pit with logs, a bottle of wine and nibbles. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side that evening and we used our logs alongside another basket of logs and lit the fire inside the lodge. Cosy and snug!
The next morning breakfast served was lovely but the room and conservatory were on the coolish side. We moved to a slightly warmer spot! My omelette was delicious btw!
We opted for the Elements Trail spa package and were warmly greeted as we arrived. TBH I’m not sure If we really enjoyed the trail. The salt bath was interesting. My friend enjoyed it more than myself. The saunas were lovely but the ‘timed’ experience was on my mind at each stop .... ensuring we ‘moved on’ as required to not be caught up on by other visitors. The outdoor hot tub was relaxing even in a hailstorm! Getting showered and dressed at the other end was not as pleasant as getting undressed and ready. An ice cold floor, no comfort basket ( deodorants and body lotion provided) made for a fairly unpleasant end to the experience. Please think of adding a basket filled with body products for guests. It really would be helpful. Also where should we put our wet costumes?? I had to ask for a bag to put them in and then was given only the one bag to share was ridiculous.
Would I return? Maybe. It could be a perfect venue with a bit of fine tuning and a little less costly!
Finn Lough lost our that day on the additional 2-3 guests we wanted to bring ( paying for a further 2-3 sundown packages)
It’s a work in progress in my mind so I won’t rule it out.
Staff were very helpful. Kim and Dobrey in particular should be given a final word of praise! Two fabulous members of your team who made the experience enjoyable for Jo and I

We had a nice time here but it is really let down by the fact that the prices charged don’t match the experience – which is a shame as it’s almost there.
I also don’t want to be unfair about a local business at a time when things are difficult but this I just an honest opinion which constructive feedback (I hope).

Firstly – if you advertise accommodation as being a certain way then it should look like it does on the website.
We booked a Lakeside lodge (they since seem to have changed the names of the accommodation)– the impression from the website is that they are modern, however when we got there the outside was very old-fashioned, covered in spider webs on the porch and reminiscent of places I had stayed with the Girl Guides – this is a minor complaint as inside it was LOVELY and just how it looks on the website – not luxury – the bedrooms in particular were very basic but it was clean, modern and pleasant.
I have since noticed the website has slightly changed and they don’t show the outside of the houses so wondering if there have been other complaints like that.
I just felt like what you see online should be what you get.

We all loved standing out on the balcony looking over the lake (in the brief 10 mins period where it was not raining) and even put the wood burning stove on.

The weather was torrential rain the whole time we were there and there is nothing that Finn Lough can do about that but so much is of outdoor based it can’t help but put a dampener on things.
We were to have the firepit sundowners and other outdoor activities but they had to be cancelled because of the weather.

The spa is the one part I could not fault – it is so unique, so relaxing and I would 100% go back to it.
It’s the epitome of green therapy – being able to enjoy a jacuzzi in the middle of the forest and I can honestly say I came out feeling totally relaxed afterwards. It was wonderful and unlike any spa I’d been to before

The food in the restaurant was not good. My main course was bland to the point of being unpleasant.
We ordered espresso martinis at the bar– they were about £12 and they tasted like watery coffee – very poor. I didn’t finish mine and I have rarely been known to leave any alcohol.

Throughout the staff were helpful welcoming and warm.

I just think my main gripe is that the experience does not add up to the price – for about the same price I could have stayed elsewhere for a real luxury experience
I think in NI places get away with this because there is simply not the same level of competition as there would be in the UK or even ROI.

I honestly cannot understand the good reviews that this place gets. I paid a lot of money for a "luxury suite" which was, in fact, a very normal room in a very unimpressive building with poor soundproofing. I was kept awake until 01.45 in the morning by the noisy bar below and drunken guests returning to their room and had to complain, in my pyjamas, to the barman. I've written to Management to give them feedback, but the response was very poor, and I was told by Guest Services (and I quote) that some people are "a bit excited at being able to drink again" - as if the bar staff cannot choose to stop serving/close the bar out of courtesy to guests in the rooms above when guests are getting rowdy. I should point out that I was told on checking in that the bar closed early, at around 10/11 p.m. Also although I didn't enter the bar in my pyjamas, from the noise emanating from it I would suspect social distancing had gone out the window. Also, I was ill during my stay and because of poor mobile phone coverage and because there are no telephones in the room my partner had to go back and forth to reception (in a separate building elsewhere in the resort) on multiple occasions. Not ideal in a pandemic, when physical contact should be kept at a minimum, and when people may need medical attention. Also there was no place to eat or purchase food on arrival (a staff member offered us their personal food, out of sympathy) and we had to wait until our allocated dinner time. Dinner was OK, but again there were issues - we waited a long time to be served, had to remind staff of what we had ordered, the salad didn't contain the ingredients listed on the menu etc. My partner gave friendly feedback to the head waiter, but there was no apology. It's just a very amateur operation, with inexperienced staff, and sky-high prices.

We arrived on a Sunday for a 2 night stay. Isobel checked us in and to be honest their staff are one of their biggest assets. The service was a really really high standard from every staff member we interacted with.
I booked a suite as a friend described the bubbles in the summer as like a greenhouse.
The suite was clean with a nice big bathroom and bath. But for £165 per night I did think it was slightly overpriced. Our nespresso didn't work the 2nd morning and since breakfast is still being delivered to the rooms that meant no coffee. Whilst I thought the hamper was super and a great way around regulations when eating indoors was banned I think its now time to give people the option again to have a hotel breakfast and a cup of coffee made for them.
The spa and and staff there were also really impressive and unusual which was great. We hired a kayak for an hour - I can't see why on earth these need paid for but the bikes don't. 30 quid for an hour seems insane.
The bar staff were brilliant and the views at the lakeside bar are incredible.
But. This brings me to my biggest bugbear. The price of the food and drink is shocking. The food is nice, not amazing, but nice. But it is certainly not at the correct price points. I paid £24 for a mushroom risotto. Their menu is a few options with a set cost. 24 for 1 course 32 for 2 courses £40 for 3 courses. Even more expensive at the weekend. I don't feel like I should choose my meal based on getting the most value for money but instead on what I want to eat. The cost of gin and tonic £10. A cocktail £11. That's more expensive than the merchant Hotel.
I would suggest you bring your own booze but there is no fridge in the rooms to chill it
This is an amazing location and we had a great trip but I'd probably be unlikely to revisit due to the price and standard of the food and drink.

I stayed at Finn Lough in October 2019 on a solo getaway and I must say it is situated in a very secluded and tranquil location. Check in was smooth and effortless where I found the staff very warm and welcoming. I was staying in a suite above the restaurant and it was beautiful, very clean, with a luxurious bathroom with a large bath and a very comfortable bed.
I had booked in to do the Elements Spa Trail so I headed on down soon after check in. I enjoyed the sauna overlooking the lake and the outdoor jacuzzi.

If I could highlight one important point, unfortunately I was not offered a flotation pillow to prevent water getting into my ears in the flotation tank, so if this is an issue for you I would highly recommend you ask for a flotation pillow prior to starting the Elements Trail, I left Finn Lough with a lot of pain in my ears.

I ate in the restaurant that night and the food and service could not be faulted, lovely veggie options and the restaurant staff were incredibly kind and friendly.

Myself and my partner booked the bubble dome plus Elements spa as a very special treat.

I was really looking forward to the experience and although we did have a lovely time, it definitely fell way short of expectations.

We paid £600 (€700) for 2 people for a one night getaway in January (£365 dome, £120 spa and £115 dinner/drinks) and so I was expecting pure 5 star luxury. This was not the case. The bubble was totally unique and it was amazing to look out at the trees, stars and moon, but it was not worth £385 for one night. For that price i would be expecting all the bells and whistles and fancy trimmings of a 5 star hotel. Apart from a lovely fluffy robe and nice coffee machine, it was relatively basic. I was also expecting an exceptional level of service which we did not receive (except from the lady at the spa who was very nice).

The experience at reception was fine but when we were on our way to our dome in the golf buggy, it was lashing rain. The lady driving us asked when we were due at the spa, we said 30 mins time, she then told us it was a 10 minute walk and we should bring the umbrella from the dome, rather than offering to bring us there! It wouldn't mind if it was busy but the place was very quiet at that time!

When we did get to the spa, we were greeted by a very lovely and welcoming receptionist who showed us around and explained everything in great detail. We headed off to the first experience which was the floating pool. This was what i can only describe as a very shallow uninviting muddy puddle! we both lay down and tried to relax/float but found we were just lying on concrete in a few inches of luke warm mirky water! We abandoned it and tried to rinse ourselves off but the shower was freezing cold. It was a complete disastrous start to our 2 hour spa experience.
Luckily the rest of the experience was enjoyable, especially the lakeside sauna and the hot tub which i would have liked to stay in much longer than the allocated time. However, i found i was always watching the clock as you are restricted to 15 or 20 minutes at each stop, otherwise the next people will land in on top of you. While it is nice to have the place to yourself, it is not very relaxing watching the clock!
Also it is a real shame that you have to pay for the spa on top of the already outrageously expensive nightly rate for the dome. It is £60 per person for each visit so we couldn't go back the next morning which is what we would normally do in a spa resort.

Dinner at the restaurant was very good, breakfast was ok, nothing special.

Overall the bubble dome experience was cool but Finn Lough is way way way overpriced!

I feel I echo what a lot of people think here when I say Finn Lough is most definitely not worth the money. I booked in for a night get away after 2 of our holidays had been cancelled this year and like so many was desperate for a night in 4 different walls. We arrived and immediately went to the spa trail which although was pressured in time was a good experience overall and something a little different. That's where it all went down hill. We checked in, went to our 'luxury suite' to find it part of a very normal building, room itself was nice but not luxury with a tiny poor quality TV and views of the back yard and food prep area. As they are paperless there is no information in the room and not even a phone to ring reception or restaurant - just a number to ring from your key fob which I felt odd. Bed was comfortable and a nice bath and shower area but again not worth the £190. Were told we didn't need to book for dinner then rang reception only to be told we did and only 6 or 9pm slots were now available. there is nowhere nearby to go for food so we went and the menu was extremely short with small portions of extremely bland food. That night we went on a trail that took a grand total of 20 minutes so went back to our room bored. We were woken at 1 when our neighbours returned and walked up the stairs, then again at 1.30 when our other neighbours also returned except they kept us up until 4.30 talking. they weren't raising their voices or playing music and very much in their right to have a conversation in a room they'd paid for but I could hear every single word. Zero privacy or sleep and a night away ruined. In all we paid £360 for our stay including spa, room and food and to be honest I've had better experiences in a Travelodge. Customer service was overall very good but I feel extremely cheated and despite complaining have heard nothing from management.

Hi Martine. We stayed June this year. We did not get one of the pods but got a suite. There was a nespresso machine and a kettle. Some coffee and teas were supplied but i cannot remember if there was decaf. But maybe with the kettle being in the suites they might be in the pods too.
