Hotel's Favourite
We have been to many Hilton Hotels and this one is a standout Honestly super staff who made our stay so enjoyable We were staying as a birthday treat for me , checked it by the wonderful Claire - she was like a breath of fresh air - so pleasant and upbeat ( you have a great staff member) from having a executive room facing the river , to the superb staff in the restaurant and bars ! The only negative thing was the Leisure club , and I think there has been several previous notes on how hotel guests are not able to use the pool ! I tried 2-3 weeks ago and it was fully booked then so disappointing Even check out by the lovely Lizzie ! Everything was perfect Hilton Hotel Gateshead take a bow ! Superb , we are looking at coming back for my wife’s birthday on the 29 th of December Thank you so much

Absolutely stars. Accommodated our ALS course at short notice under trying situations (lockdown #3). Staff went over and beyond to help us out. Very friendly, professional staff. Rooms were of good size and enabled us to meet social distancing. Thank you

I’ve stayed here 3/4 times. My recent visit - on a last minute whim - was the first in the Covid era. Hotel is still reasonable value for money but I couldn’t help feeling standards are slipping. Got a room with breakfast for £64 - a great price. Arrived to find the room hopelessly tired. Furniture quite old and not in great nick. You can tell a lot about a hotel by the condition of the bog... Was therefore bewildered to find no lid on the toilet seat in our room. So when you flushed it sounded like a 747 plane trying to heave itself off the runway one last time. At rain-lashed Luton - in January. Why the lid had lifted off at some point before we checked-in I’ve no idea. And I didn’t ask. Is this another Covid measure of some sort? There were a few stains on floor of the room. Carpet looked like it had suffered three spillages too many. I’m not overly fussy, and given I only paid £64, my expectations were low. But this is the Hilton where you expect high standards whatever the price of room. No mugs / cups / spoon in the room - and I like a brew when I arrive. Was I meant to swig it from the kettle? Is this a new Covid measure? Had to go to the bar to get a mug and that was harder than it sounds as we aren’t allowed to stand near bars nowadays. “Please take a seat” “No! I just want a mug please!” Ahhhhh I don’t know how this hotel can continue to advertise the leisure facilities - as residents are extremely unlikely to be allowed near the pool. Only 6 people allowed at a time and your slot needs to be booked “several weeks in advance” (according to the lady on reception). I guess they must have none-residents using it? So there’s hardly any chance of hotel residents taking the plunge themselves. If you’re really desperate for a dip the Tyne is just yards away. Actually, that’s silly. Under no circumstances jump in that river. Trying to find some positives here... Comfy bed. Wide screen TV. With several channels. Air-con looked like it belonged in a 1950s brutalist eastern bloc bedsit. Air-con buttons old and unresponsive. Though I felt a huge sense of success when I worked out how to turn the blasted thing off. Breakfast was great. Good selection. Very organised. So yeah, a mixed bag. And the last time I’d stay there.
