My husband and I spent a night at the Jurys Gateshead. It was comfortable and the room had everything you would need for a short stay. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The location is just over the water from the lowest part of the town but fine if you like walking. A quiet location within reasonably easy reach of shops and bars. The room needed a little talc as the bathroom had a couple of issues including a poor mirror and the boxing in of the bathroom but overall minor points.

Disappointed with this Jury’s Inn; of the ten Jury’s that I have stayed in the UK this has to be the one that I was rate as the poorest and let down me the most, not that it is terrible it is far from it however there is lots of improvement possible. The room was good, very clean but the decor was a little jaded; which was very much the case for the bathroom. The normal Jury’s Inn comfy bed was present but the duvet and pillows lacked the normally excellent experience at other Jury’s. The water pressure was woeful; the Wi-Fi was intermittent at times. The lobby was warmer than the room; eventually, a small fan heater was located by the reception team but as this was very noisy it was a choice of warmth or sleep when it was time for bed. I got the impression that the staff did not to be at work at this time; this was reflected in the welcome and service they offered; more concerned about Covid rules than the comfort and needs of the guests which is understandable but it was the way these rules were transmitted to guests (felt very uncomfortable being at the hotel even though I should have been made welcome as a key worker so I checked out after one night and moved hotels). Had high expectation give previous Jury’s inn stays yet left full of disappointment and regret that I stayed at this hotel. Not great but not terrible; the lasting impression for me was that this hotel staff were happier with leisure clients than business travellers.

Unfortunately I am appalled at the way the male manager, that likes to make clear he is the only male manager, speaks to people at the hotel. My colleagues and I have interacted with this hotel for many years without issues and now suddenly he has made it very difficult for us to return. Extremely disappointed that during these uncertain times with a terrifying global pandemic going on, that this manager feels the need to make life more difficult for other people. We always regarded this hotel as somewhere we could go to chat business and felt very welcome. They had a lot of business from us. But now after being treat like we are breaking the law, which is beyond ridiculous, he feels the need to show off the power that’s clearly gone to his head. Very sad that as a nation we are all sticking together yet one man and his management title has made life extremely more difficult for me and my colleagues. I think it shows that there is a serene lack of human empathy here. Very disappointing

Stayed here few times over past month, and looks like it’s going to be my home away from home over next few months all things Covid related excepted. Rooms are spacey, try and get one over looking river, and avoid those on 1st floor, ended up on 1st floor couple times and views rubbish and rooms are cold. Might have just been poor coincidence, but rooms on upper floors much better view as I say. Safety, sanitising, visors, masks etc all there and proper procedure in bar / restaurant being sat in safe distance fashion. Woman who runs bar really busy but manages it all really well. Great location, 5min walk over river and 10mins up the hill and you’ve loads food places, shops etc.

We picked this hotel as it looked so good sitting on the quayside and very near to Newcastle and from the moment we arrived we were pleased to be there as the front of house staff were very helpful and efficient The room was very clean and had a fabulous view of the millennium bridge and river all lit up at night The continental breakfast with hot bacon or sausage roll was more than adequate to get us going in the morning We were very near to everywhere we wanted to go and walked there to enjoy shopping and the restaurants we had booked Will definitely use again when we return in the future
