Haus Alba is a little gem of a place, tucked away just off the square, it's handy for all the shops. The proprietors are helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable of the surrounding area, particularly the distilleries. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and the breakfast is spot on.
David and Beate were great! Room is spacious, breakfast is delicious! David is an whiskey brand ambassador and guides mountain hiking days, we experience both! David is very passionate and knowledgeable about hiking, mountains and whiskey and this makes the whole experience unique! Couldn’t ask for more! Will are definitely getting back! We recommend a min stay of 3 nights for a full experience in Highlands and to contact David in advance to book about tours with him!
Very comfortable room and a welcome dram of whisky to warm us. Very well equipped with lots of charging points, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities and ironing board and iron, TV with Netflix, etc. Excellent situation on the square and had an excellent dinner in the Indian restaurant across the road. Excellent breakfast in the morning before we left. We’d be happy to recommend this B&B to all of our friends.
Having been to this B&B twice on previous occasions, as a stopover on the way to, or back from, somewhere else, this time I decided to come here for more than one night and explore the area further. On my previous visits, I had encountered friendly, kind, welcoming, generous and easy-going hosts, spotlessly clean, luxurious, well-maintained accommodation with plenty of hot water, good water pressure, warm and comfortable bed, a free dram in the room, and of course, delicious breakfasts (plus, on cold days, they get a roaring fire going in the breakfast room, which makes it extra cosy), and this time I was certainly not disappointed. David and Beate have made this place into something exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. When they heard that I like vegetarian sausages, they specially went out and got some for me, even though they weren't on the menu. Little gestures like this mean a lot, and they make one feel valued as a guest. It was wonderful to spend more time with them on this occasion, they put guests at ease, we got on brilliantly, had loads of laughs, and they have become good friends. I have booked two more visits already! The best way to explore the local area is to enlist David's services as a walking tour guide (you can see details on the B&B's website). He is a qualified mountain guide, very experienced and competent, and knows the local area like the back of his hand, so one feels as if one is in very capable hands under his guidance. We had a magnificent day of hiking up Meall a Bhuachaille, one of the local mountains. He was eternally patient and encouraging - I am nowhere near as fit as I should be, so was painfully slow in going up steep sections of the hills! (Eventually I made it, but hopefully I will be fitter next time :-) ) During the walk he told me some fascinating facts about the local plant and animal life, e.g. about the life cycle of the magnificent old Scots Pines, various types of mosses, carnivorous plants (there are two types in Britain!), animal habits etc. I learnt a lot! David also does whiskey tastings and tours. I had a mini-tasting on my first evening, and can imagine that a full tour would be of a very high standard. Please do yourself a favour and pay this place a visit. It is very clean, tasteful, cosy, comfortable, and brilliant value for money.…
The hosts, Beate and David, were perfect. Nothing was too much trouble, David even de-iced my car! Super clean everywhere and served a great breakfast. Thank you so much for all you did for us. See you again. Michelle, Ellie and Grace.x
