Myself & my son fancied a couple of days getaway for half term. Both before we came on telephone conversations and during our short stay I couldn’t fault the reception & bar staff who were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless throughout and we had a lovely large room with a sea view (even though not requesting sea view so that was an added bonus) - there were radiators all around the room so plenty of drying space for swimming clothes. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both were delicious. The dessert I had was lovely too. Sat in the bar area in the evening which was nicely set out. The swimming pool was an added bonus, my son loved it and it’s open until 8pm. There is also a massive car park. They even left a sweetie bucket for Halloween for kids in the room which was nice. We wished we could have stayed longer but are already looking forward to visiting here again next year. Hopefully when normality resumes! Pleasure Beach is a bit of a walk but there are plenty of options to get there and back. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We were staying in the Palm Court's 'sister' hotel, 'Marine Lodge' and were allowed to use the pool here as a result. So we walked up the road to the Palm Court to take advantage. The pool itself is a good size but the water was really quite cold and we managed all of about 15 mins before the kids asked to get out, which is very unlike them as far as swimming pools are concerned, as just being in a pool is usually enough to distract them from something like that. I assumed it was supposed to be heated (?) but the temperature was too cold for us ultimately. We decided to stop for dinner (the original plan was to treat the kids to fish and chips but we thought we might as well stay for dinner as we were there). Now, the food was 'OK', in that it wasn't awful, but if we'd known just how 'basic' it was then fish and chips on the prom would've won out. We ordered the kids fish fingers and chips for my son, thinking, maybe naively, they'd be like the ones you get pretty much everywhere else. What we got was a couple of pieces of misshaped cod (complete with bones - haven't experienced that for years!) with chips. He wasn't a fan. Me and my wife's cod and chips was also full of bones, which meant picking the bones out of every other mouthful. While the staff were fine and friendly, the whole place seems to be stuck in the past (decor, dining experience and probably the staff - the gentleman on the bar duties looked like he'd been a permanent fixture since the 60s). Our experience wasn't awful (I mean, we got a swim of sorts and left with full stomachs), but places like this (and I fully accept that we didn't see any of the hotel's rooms, so that should be taken into account), which need a serious updating, are the reason people overlook them for the likes of Premier Inn etc.

This was a first for me, staying at a beachfront hotel in the UK and I was ready to leave after the first night. Was put in a room at the back of the hotel and despite being on the first floor, there was a flat roof outside our window, which felt unsafe to leave the window open despite the heat in the room. There was barely room to move around the double bed and the walls were paper thin. We were the only guests in the hotel wearing a mask and staff were not prompting other to do so. When we went to bed the headboard fell off, it was too hot to sleep and you could here coughing and sneezing in the corridors which was really off putting in the current climate. As i said, I could have easily left after that first night but I spoke to Nikki, (hope that is spelt correctly), she apologised and started to put things right. Firstly she asked if i minded maintenance could go and look at the headboard and within minutes they reported back that this was a new bed but the headboard had not been secured by the installers and they had rectified that. Nikki arranged a fan, a deep clean of the landing area and requested that we stay another night which we did. The fan made a massive difference and a good nights sleep was had. We ate dinner at the hotel which was really nice and the staff looking after you in the dining room were exceptional at breakfast time and at dinner. This hotel is in an excellent location with helpful, professional staff but is in need of some investment.

Booked into this hotel with friends for a 60th birthday break. Entering the hotel i felt like i was in a residential home. The hotel was old and tired, in need of updating, Lots of narrow steep stairs and the lift like something from dark ages doesn't work properly. We booked 2rooms and was put in one opposite a gents toilet and smelt stuffy and cramped. The other room was on second floor with pigeons outside the window and they messed on window sill. We asked to move but there were lots of excuses. Could not stay there and checked out. Pictures on hotel site is false advertising.

We were checked in the hotel by a lady called Sam , who explained everything about towels, breakfast, parking, coffee and housekeeping very clearly. Our room was on the first floor hand sanitizer stations dotted about. (I sorry to disappoint all the guests with dated rooms) but ours was very nice , The window looked out on another window , but a nice bright bay and chair to sit and read. Breakfast was a variety of fruit, cereals, yogurt ,juice, different sized cooked breakfast, which wasn't a problem to add extras like beans ,mushrooms etc and it was well cooked and hot ,toast jams etc. Coffee and teas. We had a bar meal one evening which was also very nice. There was a coach trip staying at the same time and this did not effect meal times seating areas only meant more nice people to talk to The only downside is that you can not change at the pool, which put us off using it . And beware of the crisps £1.50 a packet lol But thank you for a very nice week. Would we come back ? Yes
