The Leonardo Hotel Hinckley Island has garnered commendations for its cleanliness and the spacious, well-appointed rooms with comfortable bedding. However, opinions on service quality vary, with accolades for the hospitable staff contrasted by concerns about slow service, particularly in dining. Reviewers have raised issues regarding value, highlighting not only steep dining costs but also a decline in service alongside rising prices.
While some guests enjoyed the hotel's atmosphere, others were troubled by loud music. Amenities like breakfast earned praise, yet poor Wi-Fi and crowded spaces have been points of contention.

Detailed Reviews
I had a very lovely stay in an Executive Room at the Jury's. The room was spacious, warm and the bed was comfortable. There was a complimentary plate of fruit and bottled water in my room and I was given a voucher to get a free Costa coffee and 10% off my food bill. (These benefits are available to Jury's Rewards card holders)
The hotel has great facilities including a gym and pool and conference rooms, coffee bar and restaurants. I recommend the fishfinger sandwich!

We stayed here for a 70th and a 65th birthday get together as a group of 5 ladies age range 33 to 70.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went above and beyond providing special little unexpected touches and extras for not only the birthday ladies but the whole party. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble avd the special Happy Birthday drinks tray was a lovely gesture.
Just be aware though that the bar area does not open until 5pm so if you want your free Costa you will have to find a member staff. Also if you're wanting a bite to eat or a drink this is not available until after 5.
As the restaurant is not yet open breakfast is left outside your room and hot rolls can be purchased from the reception area.
We didnt have enough towels or cups in the room but this was quickly rectified once we notified the receptionist.
Rooms were big and clean, the only thing was I think the guttering outside the room may have been blocked as we could hear it pouring the majority of the night.
We pre booked a time slot to use the pool facilities. Towels were not provided but luckily we had taken our own. You are told that the changing rooms can be used to change after pool use but we decided to go back to the room. The hotel is quite cold between corridors etc so if using the pool maybe take something warm to put over the top of swimming costume.
Overall we all had an enjoyable stay and the little extra touches made it a more memorable stay. We would certainly book again.

This is a mixed review, positives and negatives but main reason for writing this it to advise of my experience of booking a superior rather than standard room. I booked via booking.com. My husband presumed superior would be better so went for that. However, it was not, so save your money and just book standard. I messaged hotel via booking.com to ask what the difference in rooms were and got no reply. It was only looking at the actual hotel website after returning that I saw we should have got extras but never did. Supposedly should have got a voucher for Costa coffee, we didn’t, got more things in our room such as bottled mineral water, we didn’t. I only got one when I asked for one on our second day. Basically we got nothing extra other than a bottle of water which was quite an expensive bottle of water when you consider we paid about £20 or more for the superior room. So, my advice is, don’t pay for a superior room, just get standard.
Now the room was great, good size, clean, great en suite etc. But it was boiling hot and the window only opened a tiny amount so my husband and I barely slept a wink, so we were knackered.
The leisure facilities were fantastic and my kids loved the pool. The staff at the leisure centre were polite and helpful. We were helped on our first night by a really helpful man called Chaz who heard me muttering about getting food on our way to our rooms, and immediately jumped to our aid, delivering some food to our room and a jug of iced water, which was appreciated after a hellish 9 hour drive from Cumbria. He was a lovely bloke. Thank you Chaz! The food wasn’t great though with really crispy hard chicken nuggets and chips for the kids but may have been sitting about as we literally ordered just as they were finishing for the day. The reception staff were nice and the hotel is huge and clean. It did say masks were to be worn indoors on website but I didn’t see many visitors wearing them (I do as I’m clinically extremely vulnerable). The parking was good and close to hotel but make sure you get the slip with the code to get out on and not stop at barriers like we
did wondering how the hell to get out. There was no hotel information but this may be due to covid. We ordered the breakfasts to be delivered to our room and these were great, really good value but paper plates would have been good as there’s not much space to eat and I was paranoid about food ruining the carpet so we all sat on a towel to eat.
So, as I said, pluses and minuses. Do feel we wasted money on a superior room when it appears would have got exactly the same with a standard room. But, good hotel and the best thing was Chaz and the pool.

Room Tip: One of the roads to the hotel was closed at night via Hinckley itself and the diversions were awful.

Good Morning cheesesavoury, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay, we are happy to hear that you found our hotel to be huge and clean, and the room to be great and spacious. I am pleased to read that you and your sweet kids enjoyed the breakfast and the leisure facilities, our pool is amazing! It is great that our staff were nice and helpful throughout your stay, especially Chaz. We will make sure to pass your kind words to him! Meanwhile, I am really sorry to hear about the room and that some aspects of the service you received didn't meet your expectations. At the time of writing, we are working with some temporary challenges around consistent staffing and supply chain issues which have come up due to the ongoing pandemic which means that on some occasions we haven't been able to meet our traditionally high standards and we do apologise that this has affected your stay. I hope you'll be able to return shortly and enjoy an experience much closer to the ones that our guests have always been able to rely on. Kind Regards Melisa Customer Experience Team

The room was as expected albeit a little cold as the weather was not great but it is October. We had a snack in the bar on our first evening and the menu prices didn’t match the bill, then the actual item didn’t match the description. We could have also saved a little money had the items stated they came with an accompaniment, as we ordered a side of chips, which turned out unnecessary. Then they altered the bill but when it came to checking out their system didn’t reflect the price correction, which we thought would occur and fortunately kept the bar bill.
The shower is walk-in with half a glass screen; however, the water didn’t drain away and spilled out onto the floor. I removed the drain cover to help it flow away easier and it wasn’t a particularly a nice sight, there was also mould on the tiles. The sink also didn’t empty too quickly so feel that whilst the venue is relatively quiet that they may get maintenance in to all the rooms to resolve these issues.
We stayed 3 nights and had breakfast all days, housekeeping didn’t throw the used breakfast bags as they were too big to be put in the bin were left on the table, so had three lots on our last morning. Housekeeping also didn’t actually make the bed on our last night or replace the towels, so had same towels throughout; however, they did remove the floor one once but again not on our last night, so used a hand towel not really adequate.
Lastly breakfast was a bag outside the room, which in the current environment is understandable but feel not really necessary, and felt that the restaurant could have been open for breakfast. You had a ticket to take to reception to receive either a bacon/sausage or vegetarian sausage roll one per ticket. The bag consisted of orange juice which was very sharpe, granola with natural yogurt and a compot, fruit mix (grapes/blueberries/strawberries) and lastly a pre packed pain au chocolat. This was the same every day so feel that they could try and vary this too.
I understand that there are people with exemptions for face covering but there were far too many guests walking about not wearing any kind of face covering.

My sister and I have just returned from a two night stay with our grandsons. (14,10 and 10)
We booked the family package to include dinner on one night, a movie experience and breakfast bags.
We had a brilliant time. The staff were great, really helpful and pleasant. The dinner which we had in the bar, was great. Three courses each, which we all really enjoyed. My sister and I are both coeliac and the GF choice was excellent.
Our bedroom were huge and were spotlessly clean. I still wiped all the surfaces myself for peace of mind due to the current situation.
We liked the way the breakfast bags worked- again it made us feel safe. The boys enjoyed them too.
We used the pool three times, numbers were strictly limited and again we felt safe. Pre- booking a slot was essential.
The movie night was brilliant. A nice private room, big comfy chairs and a good selection of snacks and drinks.
There wasn’t anything you could fault and I would book again without hesitation. There were lots of hand sanitizers around, social distancing was adhered to and everyone wore masks.
Excellent value for money. Well done to all the staff.

We stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas and then a further night over the following weekend. We were booked in an executive room on the second floor. The room was clean and comfortable but wardrobe space would be limited if two people were staying for more than 3 days.
Check in was straight forward but we weren’t given much information about the hotel or the facilities available.
Our room was made up for one person, one robe, one towel which we thought odd. We informed the reception desk but the problem wasn’t rectified and when we returned later in the evening, we had to make a phone call and then wait for housekeeping (it was now quite late at night). The next day when the room was serviced, once again it was only made up for one person and despite informing reception, once again we had to make calls to get sufficient towels.
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice but the hot items were tepid at best. Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning was a nice touch.
Overall, this is best described as a business hotel with comfortable facilities. Although it was very busy with very noisy families over Christmas, the location is not that close to amenities. The reception staff were friendly and polite but the issues with the towels indicated a lack of efficiency.

Visited here as attended a nearby week long training course. The hotel is certainly geared towards short stay business guests rather than people staying longer than a couple or days.
The room we had was quite unclean, dust everywhere and two dead spiders. When we asked about when the room would be cleaned, we were told it was every four days which us too long between cleans. However on day four the room had not been cleaned so we had to ask for new towels and the bin to be emptied because it was now overflowing. We also had to ask for some clean cups and more tea bags and although they brought cups up, they said the hotel had run out of teabags which is ridiculous when you think about it for a hotel catering for hundreds.
We were not told by reception on arrival about the time frame between cleans nor given any info about breakfast options, and while we were there a guest came in and conplained about not being told the barrier needed a code to exit. We too were not told this on arrival and only knew when the guest complained. Although there is a sign up stating to use the code, this was not located in a prominent place on the desk and instead placed to the far left so was easily missed.
We were twice told by the restaurant they could not fit us in despite having at times more than three quarters of their tables empty so had to have a meal in the bar eat night. The food was nice although the cauliflower pizzetta was literally a tiny dough base with circles of mozzarella and three very tiny pieces of cauliflower which was disappointing.
Also found it strange the bar in the main hall stopped serving drinks at 5pm despite lots of guests still being there. While we were there, a server served a coffee to a guest who asked for soya milk with real milk. Luckily she did not have an allergy or that could have been very serious.
On the plus the bed was comfortable and the gym was good if a little busy at times, but overall it was a poor standard of service for a well respected hotel brand.

We were looking for a hotel back at the beginning of August with a pool not to far away from The Space Centre to stay at during the first weekend in September, I'd seen Jurys Inn but was shocked to see on the website that none of the restaurants were open yet I called and was told all restraunts would be open by 14th August.
We booked the Family Staycation deal which was a family room, a three course meal with a bottle of wine, kids meal with unlimited juice and breakfast. As time went on the website didn't update as restraunts open and I saw the terrible reviews of breakfast in a bag this was now only a few days before our stay so I called again. I was told bar restraunt is open for meals and also full buffet breakfast is also operating.
We arrived at the hotel and it looked much better than I expected, we were booked into the leisure centre for a swimming slot (i completed this via email after booking the hotel) so checked in and went straight there. Pool was a nice temperature, jacuzzi and steam room lovely but sauna a bit to cool for my liking, this area overall was lovely lots of sun beds and nice lighting, the ambience of an up market spa hotel.
We then went to the room which was very spacious with two double bed, table and chair, bath and show and complimentary tea tray and toiletries.
We went to the Triumph lounge for our meal there was plenty of choice for our three courses of the usual pub grub, children meals were a few to chose from and was a large portion. No complaints on the food or staycation deal it is a great value offer for families.
Breakfast, the part I was dreading. There was no need to worry at all. Breakfast was served in the Marco Pierre White restraunt, a lady stood at the desk said we were free to sit anywhere and all was self service. There was juices, milks, coffees, toast, crumpets, bagels, croissants, pain au chocolate, fruit, yogurt, cheese, ham and also full English, all help yourself and go back as much as you like.
Overall the staff were lovely on each area and happy to help, especially in the leisure centre and Triumph lounge although some staff in the bar seem new they were trying hard. Hotel was clean and only thing I could say is the carpets in communal areas could do with an update. The bed was very comfortable.
I would definitely stay again and anyone worrying about there stay, please don't.

My family and I recently stayed in Jury’s Inn Hinckley island for four nights.
We checked in online the day before, which was very convenient. I collected the keys on my arrival. The room was spacious and clean. We asked for a fold up bed as our toddler had outgrown a travel cot, when the service man arrived at our room he was dragging the duvet across the floor. We had booked the superior package in the family room. As part of our package we were to receive a Costa coffee voucher per guest per day which would equate to eight coffee vouchers we received four. We were also to receive complimentary mineral water, biscuits and a newspaper to our room daily. We never received these.
As we had three children in the room one of our children is still in nappies. We left the “please service room” label out every morning, as we needed our bins changed daily. For the first three days our room was never serviced.
I went to reception to make the staff aware that we needed our bins emptied and we had run out of toilet paper which I felt embarrassing. The reception staff told me that I needed to inform them the night before and I would be put on the list for the next day. I was given the extra coffee vouchers and the room was serviced immediately but I still did not receive the complimentary mineral water and biscuits. I informed the reception staff and they apologised and gave me two complimentary drink vouchers for the Triumph bar. We then decided to eat in the bar area.
We ordered our food and drinks, around five minutes later a waitress approached our table asking if we would like to charge the meal to our room, I said no and I would pay for it. The waitress then arrived over to our table with a credit card machine and asked for payment. I was very surprised and I explained that I had never been asked to pay for a meal before I received it, I was told it was the policy of the hotel. I explained that it would not be the final bill as I intended on ordering more drinks and desserts. I was then asked to hand over my credit card and it would be held behind the bar until the bill was finalised. I was very surprised and reluctantly handed it to the girl so that I could receive my families meal. My son ordered the buttermilk chicken on the children’s menu but he received a southern fried chicken piece which was very spicy, he has a condition that he cannot tolerate spicy food. I questioned this with the waitress and I was told that it was buttermilk chicken with rosemary added to the breadcrumb. My son could not eat his meal. We received the bill and gave our free drinks voucher and we were told that it would not cover my wife’s glass of wine, it only covered pints and children’s drinks. When I received the bill I wanted to pay in cash but I was told I could only pay with card.
The only reason that I gave this hotel two stars was because of the leisure centre. It was clean and quite and the staff were friendly.
I enjoyed my time in Hinckley as we ate out in some very nice restaurants and we liked the town, however if I was to visit again I would stay in a different hotel.

Spent the night here for a work function and I found the room to be spacious, clean and well equipped. The shower room however was a bit mouldy and the extractor fan didn't work but other than this I was quite impressed. The bed was large and comfortable and the room had a range of complimentary drink/snacks/toiletries that many chains would be unlikely to match. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food at the function was decent if unremarkable. The bars are expensive and you can expect to pay £5 a pint though the food menus appear more reasonable.

Houghton-le-Spring, United Kingdom147 contributions224 helpful votesIs this hotel near any bars or restaurants within walking distance? Thanks
no sorry, it its a hard walk across the large roundabout jct .
across, to the nearest petrol pump and further a few shops & im saying like almost a mile.
Under 12s and non swimmers do need adult supervision but its best to double check with the hotel directly, they are very helpful.
Pool open from 7am till 10am when we were there. If you are going in school holidays it is advised to book a time slot as it gets busy
