I stayed in the self-catering apartments offered by the Hotel and found them to be extremely comfortable. The units are very well appointed with creature comforts in top condition. The unit was clean and clearly well kept. A definite must over Hogmanay as not much else was open in town!

We were very happy with The Ayer Hotel. Rooms in Kirkwall were limited during our stay and we didn't have an advance reservation. The room was clean, nicely appointed and we were fortunate to get a sea view. We had the buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was fine.

Large group of us stayed here for a business trip. The room was excellent, the food was excellent and the staff were excellent. We were made to feel so welcome and never wanted for anything for the full stay. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Two nights here for a work trip north. My room was clean and tho small, had everything I needed. Nice bathroom. The hotel has been refurbished so feels modern and efficient. Staff were very helpful (apart from when I asked to borrow an umbrella- none to be had). Breakfast was generous and tasty. I ate one evening in the hotel...

I stayed one night, in a room on the top floor. Not much view from the window but the room itself was clean, tidy and the bed was comfortable. The walls aren't too thick so I did hear the person next door on the phone through the night but otherwise it was a lovely stay. Breakfast was good, staff were...

Visited the ayre hotel on Sunday for lunch we were a party of eleven. The Sunday lunch offer was great and offered three different choices of each course and three courses for under ten pound was a bargain. I have visited the ayre hotel on many occasions for food and I have never had a bad meal. The food is...

I stayed in The Ayre Hotel, Kirkwall for 4 nights. The owners, Lyall and Wendy ensured our every need was catered for. Sarah-Jane on reception was very helpful. We ate in the restaurant each evening, and I can certainly recommend the food. Each item on the menu was freshly cooked with local produce, and to perfection. The menu had plenty...

We booked this hotel for a small group and the booking process was quick and they were very flexible which isn't always the case with group bookings. It's a standard hotel, the room was very clean and a good size. The other part of our group stayed at a different hotel and they weren't as happy with their accommodation so...
