We have stopped here on two separate canoe trips as part of a group. Both occasions we received a warm welcome and good traditional English breakfast. It was great being able to canoe to breakfast and enjoy eating outside by the rivers even under cover should it have rained. We will be back next year for sure

Excellent food, wonderful setting by the river and charming hosts whom I believe have only just taken over the pub recently. From the minute we reserved a table for this pub nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Keep up the good work!

Being honest this was a second choice as we couldn't get into the pub we wanted to eat in, however this was a pleasant and friendly pub, the fish and chips were HUGE. Friendly and accommodating staff, we visited on a Saturday evening and parking was a little difficult but overall a nice experience, good choice of beer/ale and a...

We turned up with a 4 man tent...we didnt know at time of booking that we were only supposed to have 2 man tents, but we had booked two pitches, so our tent actually used less space than 2 2man tents.... the bar man was really rude to my friend as soon as we arrived. Just said to go by...

Had a few days camping with some fishing friends on the small campsite that belongs to and ajoins the White Lion beer garden. Theres only space for small 2 man tents and bivvys, but its perfect for anglers and canoeists. Beautiful riverside location. The pub serves good food in generous portions. Theres a great range of real ales and local...

New owners are like a breath of fresh air, everything is neater and the gardens are much smarter, would recommend to all! Views across the river Wye are stunning, food is great. Locals complete the overall experience, a wonderful afternoon.

My wife and I with two friends met in Ross on Wye (them from Manchester, us from North Devon) to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. We stayed near the White Lion, not knowing they had accommodation, but went for lunch on our first day having met up. The situation is great, we sat in the garden overlooking the RIVER WYE...

Earlier in the day, we had been hunting down ciders at the Yew Tree Inn in Peterstow (which is run by the Broome Farm cider makers) and decided that having purchased a few gallons, we would have a look around near by Ross On Wye for a while. On the short drive into Ross we though we would find a...

We visited for an evening meal, the staff were very friendly and gave great service. The food was excellent with really good size portions. The dining area had great views over the river and there is outside seating for use in good weather.
