We have stayed here a number times pre-covid and returned in Dec 2021, and always found it to be good. Since the previous time the breakfast area has moved and menu expanded for guests. The rooms we have had twin and family have all been clean and modern and of decent size, LCD TV, bathroom, chairs or sofa and desk. The food in the restaurant is good as is the breakfast, it has ample parking on site. We’ve enjoyed evening meals in the restaurant there in the past back in the summer 2021 the restaurant was closed and being redecorated we ordered a risotto from a near by takeaway and ate it sat outside in the hotel garden.

This hotel is unkept, unhygienic and uncomfortable. None of the rooms are sound proofed. If you go on booking.com a lot of the true reviews from December have been removed because they are of a similar read to mine. when we arrived there was a party going on that we hadn’t been made aware, until we were checking in. when we checked in our room was directly above where the music was coming from (room 23). The floor was bouncing in our room, it was that bad!! it was also very cold. we tried to turn the radiator on, but no heat came out!! The room looked dirty and smelled musty, the bedding looked grotty and the beds were uncomfortable to sit on, so god knows what they were like to sleep in …. we didn’t stay to find out. we went back to reception, the lady was good enough to understand and refunded us in full. However, even she said they need sound proofing!! Because the noise was horrific and we arrived at midnight after seeing Sarah Millican at Parr Hall, who was amazing btw.

The most uncomfortable bed I have ever stayed in. 2 single beds pushed together one side ridiculously hard the other side soft with springs popping out. Hardly any sleep and an awful back today. Dj playing in the bar downstairs till 12pm which we were only informed about on check in, was so loud it literally made the floorboards vibrate. Walls paper thin someone walking down corridor sounds like someone coming in your room. Clearly care more about earning money in the bar than the customer that are paying £80 a night sleeping in the hotel. Breakfast times aren’t convenient only serving 8-9:15 meaning no lie in. Complete rip off would not recommend. Also for the price would expect a tv that isn’t completely ancient.

To be brutally honest this hotel is clearly not fit for purpose due to its poor standard of hygiene and the state of the property. We entered the hotel via the car park entrance. There was litter on the floor around the entrance, the windows and ledges were so dirty you could write you name in the grim. You had to be buzzed in. To our astonishment there was an overflowing industrial bin in the foyer and ashtrays full of cigarettes. We went to reception which wasn’t any better. The bar was cluttered and in disarray, stacked high with dirty glasses and crockery so much so we wouldn’t even order a drink after a 5 hour drive. The furniture was old and dusty, the walls had marks all over them. We were attending a party and had very little time to get ready but still tried unsuccessfully to get into another hotel. As there wasn’t any availability we had no choice but to stay. I actually put bags on my hands to push open the fire doors to get to our room as I didn’t want to touch them. When we reached our floor there was a bucket full of dirty water with a smelly mop left abandoned just outside our room. The bridal suite wasn’t much better. The pillows were hard, old and lumpy, the sheets were threadbare. I immediately removed the old brown cushion and throw from the bed as they both needed to be washed. It was apparent the room had been superficially cleaned. The rug was absolutely filthy, sticky and looked as though it hadn’t been properly vacuumed in weeks. Luckily I had flip flop which I put on to get around the room to get ready. As we didn’t trust the standard of hygiene we wouldn't use the cups etc. We attended our party, slept in the uncomfortable bed and left the following morning, not taking breakfast as we did not trust the quality of food and again the standard of hygiene in the preparation and kitchen. The staff were sitting in the empty dining room when we checked out and the bar was still the same condition as it was when we checked in. I rarely leave reviews but on this occasion I have shared our experience as I would have avoided this hotel if I were to have read my review on the basis of the extremely poor standard of as hygiene. I am in the process of contacting Booking.com as they priced the room at £108 after my discounts were applied and for this price I would expect to stay in a clean room, particularly during these times !!

Stayed for one night on business. Upon arrival reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean and tidy with all that is required for a one night stay. The menu for guests looked very appetising, if I'd known they were serving food for guests still I'd have eaten there. All seemed good value too. One to remember for next time! Can't fault it.

We stayed on a Saturday night. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was nicely presented with minis included. Breakfast was tasty, we had a full English with toast, coffee and orange juice. Would recommend.

On arrival we could smell an awful aroma in the corridor to reception but went to check in. Then went up to the room where the smell was really bad in staircase area and into room. The room was freezing and when I sat on the bed it was really, really uncomfortable and mega creaky. Then our neighbor arrived, we heard every step on the corridor and then every sound in their room, such as putting key on table, conversation on mobile and other minor noises that should not be able to be heard in a hotel room. Walls were like paper. I didn't even unpack, we went and returned the key and left and booked another hotel. Would not recommend and wish I had read back to some of the earlier reviews that detail some of the stuff we encountered.

My partner and I stayed here as we were attending a wedding locally. We found it excellent value for money. We regularly travel the country and visit hotels and Villaggio easily meets cleanliness standards of chain hotels, the whole venue was spotless. Much better than most independently ran hotels. Our bed was huge and extremely comfortable. So much so we'd like to know where we could purchase the same mattress for ourselves. Staff were wonderful and very accomodating. Our complimentary breakfast was lovely too. We couldn't complain and would recommend people visit. The only slight downside was you could hear people walking down the corridor but we only heard this when awake, our sleep was undisturbed. Thank you Villaggio for a lovely stay!

I was disappointed with my stay as the hotel is dated and I did not find the room comfortable. My double bed was two singles pushed together held together by the fitted sheets. It was hard to sleep as the bed was rock hard and the walls so thin I could hear other guests snoring and every time someone walked past you could hear the floor creek. It was cheap and the staff were friendly but it’s located in a run down area and you park in a public car park. Lots of vans and contractors, all were ok but it was just not what I had hoped for
