We stayed with a groupon offer, good value with bed, breakfast and first evening meal. We arrived on a busy Sunday lunchtime but was still shown to our room when they could have easily asked us to wait. Room was a large family room, clean and equipped with tea, coffee and biscuits. It had shower over bath which could be...

Ideal for dogs. With rooms outside backing on to the lake. Big advantage too that a noisy function in the pub didn't disturb us. One of the friendliest pubs we've stayed in. Very clean and comfortable. In need of an update but the pros do definately outweigh the cons. We had various meals all adiquate. We will stay again.

We had a really nice stay here and with the Groupon voucher it was exceptionally good value for money. This is definitely a pub with rooms rather than a hotel with a bar. Which unless you like paying a fiver for a pint is great. Bar prices are typical pub prices and you have the option of bar food or...

Ok, I read the reviews after I had booked the Halfway House for a night - had it been the other way around I would not have stayed! Firstly, the miserable lady that was mentioned in several comments was no-where to be seen - every single member of staff I encountered were really charming and very welcoming. Secondly, dirty rooms???...

No it's not the Ritz, but for the price you pay, it's clean, warm and friendly. It's more motel than hotel with the added bonus that dogs can stay which means you can really make the most of the lake and gardens, hidden at the back. I don't think it's trying to be anything more than that. Staff are lovely,...

This is a pretty basic option but doesn't pretend to be anything else. The welcome was extremely warm and the owner showed us the room, making sure we were warm enough on a very cold day. Dogs are welcome which is great if you have one! It's a shame that breakfast was served in the function room so that we...

Thank you for taking the time to review us and saying what good value you thought we offered. The issue with the conservatory doors has been resolved and the key is now permanently in the lock. We look forward to your next visit.

The Sunday carvery is the best I've ever had and would recommend to epicures anywhere. Apparently the restaurant has had a change of staff which works. I've never seen such an array of old English vegetables used on a carvery before. Other restaurants take note...the Halfway has raised the bar and doubt others will even get close to Simon &...

Thank you for your lovely review, the team really appreciate it when customers take the time to acknowledge all the effort that goes into our food. Chef tells me that this is just the beginning as he will be extending the range of meats from 3 to 5 from this week and has further surprises planned for the coming year.

I booked this trip using a Groupon voucher, a last minute night away for my husband's birthday. It was really easy to book and we were warmly welcomed when we arrived. The inn itself is charming, the room we stayed in was very comfortable and clean and we had a lovely view over the lake there. There was a choice...

Stayed here on new years eve 15/15. We had an excellent stay, comfortable room(although decor a little tired). Really friendly staff & food was excellent, we are considering coming down in the summer with the dogs.
