YHA Ravenstor is a great place to stay if you like walking and if you're interested in railway history. It is very close to the Monsal Trail, which was originally a railway route between Derby and Manchester. Millers Dale for Tideswell is immortalised in Flanders and Swann's song The Slow Train, written when Beeching was drastically reducing the number of...

Nice staff but the hostel itself needs an overhaul. Although the staff dealt with any problems promptly the hostel needs renovating, for instance there is not enough seating in the lounge and the radiator in our room leaked. There are lots of nice walks round about and lovely setting

Their excellent directions took us safely to the Anglers Rest (Millers Dale) and a longer walk to Tideswell for an excellent Sunday lunch at the Merchants Yard. Hostel was clean and well situated, we cycled directly to the Monday Trail. We will...

The YHA Ravenstor is a lovely building, in a good location and ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The car parking on one of the two roads to the YHA was plentiful. The hostel dorm room we stayed was a reasonable size. The beds are fairly new and comfortable. Slept okay for a hostel. Shower rooms clean enough, although the...
