Enjoyed an Autumn Saturday night away at the Buckingham Hotel in Buxton. We had the Jody Foster suit with the big stand alone bath. the hotel is a tad tired around the edges but very good value for money. No breakfast is provided but a cafe in Buxton town centre which is a short walk away was no issue. Would recommend and would stay again.

Back to the Buckingham for a second comfortable stay. A friendly budget hotel that ticks all my boxes, large rooms, good bathrooms, mainly with actual baths as well as showers. Toiletries were provided along with decent towels. It was nice and warm, clean with loads of brew making gear in the room. The staff are all friendly locals and the bar is great. A smashing budget hotel for anyone who wants to go and see the sights of the peak district. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel unless you are expecting a Rolls Royce for the price of a Ford Fiesta.

After looking at mixed reviews, we checked to see the cleanliness and most reports mentioned it was clean. We just needed a base for the weekend away so we booked with our little dog. We were unable to check in before 2pm so went to a local pub for a drink. Got given a warm welcome by reception and details on the hotel/bar and how to find the room. The decor was very quirky with each room seeming to have a celebrity theme, and as previous reviews mention the cabinet of 90s stuffed toys and puppets from the ceiling were quite terrifying (especially walking past them in the night as the dog needed to wee!) We got to our room, facing the main road so we knew we may hear traffic at night but for £50 a night u can’t moan and it wasn’t that bad. We were “thrilled” to find out we were in the Kevin Costner room, Wallpaper and carpet again dated but we didn’t book to just sit and stare at walls. The only negative was the Shower didn’t have much pressure. The hotel bar was well stocked and had the football on. We were above the bar and didn’t hear noise when we went to our room. Great location, clean rooms and dog friendly. Hotel is directly opposite pavilion gardens which was lovely.

This should be closed as a hotel and reopened as a theme park or visitor attraction. The sights, smells and feel of an authentic horror hotel. I drove passed twice convinced I couldn’t be staying somewhere this run down and the hotel must be a little further down the road. You’ll feel sick to the pit of your stomach as soon as you enter and tell yourself it’s ‘just for one night’. There’s a warm welcome at reception from a glass display case of worn out children’s soft toys from the 1980s. Even Fireman Sam looked like he’d had enough. The first floor smelled of sweaty school gym hall and the second was Toilet Duck. I was greeted by dogs barking on both floors. I’m sure I spotted a girl on a tricycle along one of the corridors. The room was lovely and spacious allowing me grand vistas of the Kevin Costner photos on every wall. I didn’t take my shoes off once other than to go to bed where I lay on the duvet in a foetal position. Free electricity in the room made up for the stained carpets and chair. This is possibly the best Kevin Costner themed hotel room in Buxton.

Booked this hotel for one night to see a show at the Pavilion Opera House, the room was warm and clean, beds were reasonably comfortable, the room we had was in the basement and we found it very quiet, for the money this was good value and only 5 minutes walk from venue.
