This was a last minute getaway for a few days during the pandemic of covid-19. Despite being a little apprehensive we had a fabulous time at this little gem retreat in the middle of the Peak District. Firstly a warm welcome by the owners who escorted us to our room which was to be home for next couple of days. The room was adequate in size, nicely decorated, clean and had all we needed including tea & coffee facilities, a comfy bed and a nice bathroom with both bath and shower. The bar area is very small with a lovely small fire which was lovely to snuggle up in front of after come in from the cold. It was seating only to help with the social distancing. We had breakfast and dinner here on both days of our stay. The full breakfast was fabulous and certainly set us up for the day. The menu is of typical English bar food but definitely something to cater for all. It was of good portion size, well cooked and good value. Would definitely recommend this. The owners did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. This is definitely somewhere recommended as a base for walkers, cyclists or just a chance to escape. Somewhere we will definitely like to return to sometime soon.…
What a lovely little gem The Jug & Glass Inn is, we had a 2 night break and it was perfect. Our hosts were very warm and welcoming and the food oh my goodness it was gorgeous i can certainly recommend the chicken and leek in stilton sauce and my hubby really enjoyed the slow cooked beef but everything we had was lovely, very well presented, lovely and hot and very plentiful. We are already planning a return trip, dont hesitate to book, Room was spotless and very spacious again couldnt fault a thing and cant wait to come back
Delightful lunch, the beef was lovely, my wife had the lasagna and we both enjoyed the food, the restrictions in place during these weird times were well publicised. Well worth a visit, good selection of beer, they also offer rooms.
Spenta short 2 night break here. Room was very clean and everything 100%.Very good breakfast to set you up for the day. Evening meals were excellent and very good value for money. Landlord and landlady very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Just back from a two night visit to the jug and glass. Lovely stay. Nice clean comfy rooms and nice food. I recommend the steak and stilton pie. It's quite remote despite being on a main road so expect a breeze. We walked to Hartington via the back way but I would drive down if I went again. It's quite a hike. All in all a great stay at a great pub with great hosts.
