Where do I start? Stayed locally in a nearby beautiful house with all the family - 6 of us . Booked Christmas lunch on the recommendation of the owner of the house as advised the Swan had been taken over by Llangoed Hall, and it would be fantastic!! What a let down! No fun, staff inexperienced, food poor, no extra...

Six of us booked for New Years Eve, having stayed in the hotel under different management about 6 years ago for the same event. The hotel is in the process of having a total refurbishment, the bedrooms have been upgraded to a high standard, the beds are very comfortable and once the hotel has finished being completely refurbished it will...

The staff were great. Our room had a really comfortable bed and the bath/shower was well done. Some more 'storage' in the way of drawers would have been useful as would some net curtains or window-blinds. Breakfast came cooked just as I wanted it and in enough quantity and quality so that I left an empty plate on both days....

We stayed at The Swan for two nights, 29th & 30th December and found the whole stay to be really lovely. The room we had has been recently refurbished and was comfortable and well equipped with comfy chairs, good hanging space and hairdryer - we particularly loved the king sized bed, which offered a view out of the restored original...

My husband and I have been staying at The Swan at Hay for more than 30 years. While we loved it under the previous ownership, it was getting a bit tired and we were delighted to see on our return this Christmas all the effort the new owners are investing into a major refurbishment and make-over. The facilities and decor...

I was there at an annual get-together, with all our food choices pre-ordered. Soup was ok but the main course was truly dismal....cold veg...a thin piece of leather masquerading as roast beef, yorkshire pudding which was hard as a rock. Shame on The Swan, now under ownership of Llangoyd Hall. It would appear they are targetting the county set, at...

Had a great overnight stay here when we came down to visit relatives based near Hereford. We'd always wanted to see Hay on Wye as it's so famous for the literary festival. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms and it was beautiful. They have not completed the public areas yet, but if it ends up as good...

My husband and I booked lunch on Boxing Day ... I suppose the fact that they readily accepted our booking was a clue which we, sadly, ignored. It was quite a while before we could find someone to order a drink though I have to say that the young lady was extremely pleasant. We both ordered beef lunch and I...

I was working in Hay last night, and popped in here for an early dinner, as it was very convenient. I've known the hotel for many years as I'm always in Hay for the literary festival. It's always been known for being a bit "tired", and that is still the case, although refurbs are currently being done. I had soup...

We stayed at The Swan for one night as a last minute stop off having booked a superior double room online. On arrival at the hotel we realised there were significant renovation works going on and were greeted by a friendly manager who explained that our room had been recently refurbished but that there were workmen still working in nearby...
