The hotel is lovely great location with a great view over the harbour from our room. The room was clean an tidy with everything we needed. Only disappointment was the restaurant wasn't open but the new owner is working on improving parts of the hotel, and was able to guide us on places to eat in Dunoon. The breakfast was lovely and dining room an lounge bar is comfortable with a coal fire set in the lounge. The staff were very nice and helpful will certainly be back to stay here again.

This hotel is best described as clean, comfortable and traditional, The building itself is beautiful and really well located just opposite the ferry terminal. Great views from the lounge and front bedrooms. The whole place is spotless and breakfast is good. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are a couple of things that let it down though - the whole place has a feeling that it is about to fall into decline - the paint is starting to peel and there were damp patches in our room. The bathroom was worn and in need of repair and the place just felt a little neglected. We would have liked a drink in the evening but the bar was closed - the owner was really helpful though and brought us a bottle of wine. There needs to be a bit of clarity on the website too - there is no mention that this is a vegan retreat in the literature (no problem for me, but would have been nice to know!) as the hotel is still pitching itself as Dunoon's most luxurious hotel - unfortunately I am not sure if this is a claim that the hotel will be able to make for much longer without a bit of work being done! However, all in all, I would recommend this hotel as it is grand, clean and the staff are very helpful.

I'm really gone of this hotel, it's run by great people, the inside looks like something the Queen would live in and location is awesome. This was the 2nd time we've stayed here and both the different rooms we've stayed in have had a fantastic view of the loch. If you get the ferry from Greenock (which runs every hour) you can cut out a lot of time. If you do decide to take the scenic drive (which I do recommend) drive up to arrochar if you're coming from England and enjoy the scenery. Thanks again for a great stay.

Immediately opposite the car ferry you will find this imposing hotel which is spacious and well maintained. The rooms at the front have wonderful views and comfortable chairs just to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. The lounge is equally spacious and comfortable. The service is excellent. If you like vegan food the full English breakfast is great.

Although it was difficult to find someone to attend to us on arrival the hotel was worth the wait. A beautiful house, originally built for the Lipton’s tea family, provided a very clean and comfortable room with good quality bedding. Although the breakfast was only vegetarian it was very nice, varied and very filling. The staff we eventually encountered were very pleasant and helpful and we would not hesitate to return if again in the area.
