Despite the charming exterior and pleasant man at the front desk (Jim was lovely), this hotel is unfortunately one of the worst I have ever stayed in. Not a single member of staff was once spotted wearing a mask. Not one. No regard for health and safety was shown whatsoever. This put us off eating at the hotel restaurant and as a result, we ended up ordering takeaways two nights in a row, given that all neighbouring restaurants were fully booked. In addition to the Covid risk, the general smell of smoke and weed in the corridors is horrendous. We actually had to put our suitcases at the foot of our bedroom door to stop the smell from coming in. As an asthmatic person, this was HIGHLY concerning. (We also found old and squashed jelly babies on our bedroom floor...yum!) To top it all off, dogs can be heard barking next door at all hours (dogs are allowed to stay in the rooms) which kept us from sleeping well. WiFi did not work. Hairdryer broken also. We could get over the run down nature of the hotel, it is a very old building with so much potential after all. However, the blatant disregard for health and cleanliness at this hotel is unacceptable. We could not wait to leave.

Booked as a surprise birthday present for family.... and what a disaster!! Hotel owner has still alot to understand in building customer relationships and trust. Lies and dishonesty in the hotel trade unfortunately don't stand up in time... Word of mouth especially with fellow Scots is worth a hell of alot more. Dogs are only allowed in 6 rooms : A LIE : betrayed by the cleaning staff who clean the rooms and tell the truth Rooms are deep cleaned every morning : LIE, room was dirty with lots of hair ( dogs?) on the carpet Health is more important than money.... the dishonesty of the owner, Richard will catch up with him in time. There are lots of other hotels and guest houses in Dunoon.... our advice : AVOID this hotel

It’s clear that the hotel needs a bit of a face lift, but this seems to be a work in progress. The room was clean, spacious, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was served in your room. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the town centre, but with great views over the water. The staff were friendly and helpful.
