Upon arrival we weren't shown to a table so we waited at the bar for over ten minutes where the bar staff were unenthusiastic and rude. Having found our own table, we weren't offered any water, there was no cutlery on the table and we were totally ignored by all staff. A drink was knocked over by one of the...

Lovely building, Excellent food (the house burger was seriously good), our waitress Kirsty (from newcastle) made the whole experience delightful and went above and beyond to look after our fussy mother! We will definitely be coming back.

Popped in after a visit to Highclere Castle for lunch. Excellent menu and I chose the kedgeree fishcake. However, there was so little haddock in the fishcake that it turned out to be a very expensive flavoured ricecake. My complaint was met with the response that this was how they are supplied. Avoid.

Stayed at the Carnarvon Arms 8/31 and 9/1. Cannot say enough good things about it-the staff was very friendly and helpful. The general manager, Simon, even gave us complementary drinks and drove us to Highclere Castle himself, as we did not have a car! Offered to pick us up as well. Ate all daily meals here and did not have...

We stayed on Sunday 30th August they were very welcoming our room wasn't quite ready so Kirsty who checked us in told us to go and have a drink in the bar and she would pick up the tab. When our room was ready she came and found us and showed us to our room. The room was clean and...

We stayed here last weekend following an excellent stay last year. The first evening was a little disappointing, we were told the wrong time for dinner and therefore arrived 10 mins after food had finished, we were offered a couple of roast dinners in the bar, the food was average, it was a standard pub roast, nothing special. The second...

Booked an overnight stay as we were visiting highclere house. Highly delighted with the service, food and accommodation. Staff couldn't be any more helpful and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a short break.

Popped in by chance between a morning visit to Highclere Castle and afternoon trip to Sandham Chapel - tasteful decor - attentive service and good food at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and will return

After a visit to Highclere castle this afternoon the Carnarvon Arms caught our attention as a place to eat after our visit. We were warmly welcomed by a lady...perhaps the manageress?...Drinks were ordered from the well stocked bar and we picked our table. Recently refurbished the Carnarvon Arms is beautifully decorated using modern techniques but still retains its 18th century...

Saturday 15 August 2015: After spending a great day out with friends we were visiting for the weekend, they booked to eat here in the evening. There were 8 of us and what a disaster it was from sitting at the table to leaving the restaurant. Due to taxis, we ladies arrived first and ordered a bottle of wine and...
