We ate here after visit to Highclere castle. Excellent friendly service. Very good, tasty food. Good to find classic old English pub. Great atmosphere and like the country decor. Very good value for money. Would like to stay here if we revisited area.

Stayed here for one night after visiting Highclere Castle. Highclere is only a 5 minute car journey from the hotel and Beacon hill is also very close. The hotel is lovely. Welcoming staff and the room we had was very cute. Small but enough for two people for a night away. The bathroom was modern and the tea and coffee...

4 of us turned up on Easter Monday with no booking and 2 dogs in tow and despite it being quite busy, we were welcomed with open arms. The staff couldn't have been more friendly to us and our dogs. The food was really delicious (we had the pie and the roast beef, followed by crumble and sticky toffee puddings)....

Four of us had booked a table for dinner at The Carnarvon Arms and were impressed with their menu which offered a wide choice of dishes at reasonable prices. The wine list was also excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. The staff were very attentive, polite and friendly. All in all - a great evening!

Stayed for one night and was really impressed, service is excellent whilst being really laid back, opened a tab to eat and drink and was never asked for a room number, they just paid attention and knew, so chilled compared with the more corporate places. Just please put nicer coffee in the rooms, it just doesn't fit with how lovely...

Stayed at the Carnarvon Arms for a couple of nights as was visiting Highclare Castle. It the perfect location as it is literally round the corner. Staff were very friendly. We're were greeted by Dave the manager and was given some good advise about getting to the castle early as we didn't have pre booked tickets. Rooms cleaned every day....

Lovely pub with a good range of choices on the food menu. Always served with a smile. The menu also appeals to our teenagers with an all you can eat burger. We ordered a martini and it came in a proper cocktail glass - a nice special touch.

This place is much improved since the days when it was run by Marco Pierre White. The menu is less fussy and the dishes are well prepared. We've been here three times now and enjoyed it every time, feeling we had good value on each occasion. The interior has also improved. Gone are the stuffed crows! Better for families and...

We came across this place quite by accident on our way to Highclere Castle. The Castle was closed so we turned around and pulled up at The Carnarvon Arms. We didn't expect them to be able to accommodate the two of us as it was Mother's Day but we thought we'd give it a try. Not only did they make...
