I’d long heard talk of this pub but had misinterpreted such chat as a declaration of a gastro pub, the likes of which litter the more rural parts of northern Home Counties in affluent areas. What we discovered instead was a far more authentic example of British pub grub - not the 70’s naff type, the just lovely no nonsense tasty type. The atmosphere was memorable as a folk trio struck up, in time a quad, a quintuplet (?) then finally a hexa... (no idea, there were six of them). Fine meal, best pints of the year (and I drink too much) cosy decor, a very British experience all round, I must take the Dutch and Australians from work here, they will love it.

Lovely quiet proper old fashioned pub with proper old fashioned courtesy.
Six family members met for pub lunch age range 10 to “late 60’s”!
Food ordered in two batches reflecting two branches of the family, staff offered to bring all food out at same time, very impressed.
We had Brie & Cranberry sandwiches with fat chips, veggie burger, mushroom wellington & a plate of skinny fries.
All food arrived in a timely fashion, was well presented and hot.
I can recommend the Nethergate Wheat beer that I could have quietly quaffed all afternoon.
Kids were kept amused by the aviary of birds, tortoise and the odd field mouse!
Thank you Brockett Arms.

A very pleasant lunch in an atmospheric pub in a quiet Hertfordshire village.
I’m sure tourist would love the ambience of both the pub and the village.
Lunch was a little slow coming but was very pleasant to eat!

A nice place for a lunch time pint. The food is good but at times you have to wait, so get another pint in! Delightful old building which is to be expected when you take time to look around the village.
Surprised that tourist buses aren’t clamouring to get in, but they would never navigate the country lanes.
Go and enjoy the pub and the beer!

Friendly service and great pub grub at reasonable prices. Very pleased to find out that they are one of the few pubs that do a burger with a proper floured bun (good stuff!!), rather than that brioche stuff that seems to be so fashionable lately (why?!!)!!

There is a beautiful ruined church almost opposite, as well as the newer 18th Century Grecian-revival style church a short walk behind it. These are pleasant areas to visit before or after a meal.

About
Description
*UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT FROM 8th NOVEMBER*Please pop in for a warm welcome, warm open log fires and great food and beers x. This delightful country inn was built in the 14th century and retains all the traditional More features including inglenook fireplaces and a wealth of exposed beams. Following its closure last year we have carried out extensive refurbishment of the pub and rooms. This has resulted in us being awarded 4 star inn status by the AA reflecting the high standard of the accommodation. We have also been fortunate to find a fantastic chef who is using fresh and, where possible, locally sourced produce to create unpretentious modern dishes. We look forward to welcoming you to The Brocket Arms. Less
