We were given a two night stay at the String of Horses Inn as a Christmas Gift. We have just returned after a lovely weekend. The hotel was really nice and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We eat in the restaurant both evenings and found the food to be excellent along with the drinks. The prices of...

The bar area was lovely and quaint. A good and varied menu and the food was delicious. Good variety at breakfast, a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and a choice of cooked breakfast....

We booked for a meal whilst staying in Faugh. The starters were lovely but the venue went hero to zero status when the main courses came out. My meal had water on the plate from the vegetables which hadn't been drained properly and the pie was sodden in gravy. When asked by the Polite staff "was everything ok" we mentioned...

Old coaching inn with open fires. No problem with early arrival. Friendly helpful staff. Evening meal very good and reasonably priced. Good sized room and en-suite. Cooked breakfast good but would have been better with beans.

Lovely 2 night stay at this old inn. Staff, room, food, all 1st class. Set in a quiet village but handy for Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall etc. Very welcoming atmosphere and will definitely be returning. Younger staff were very polite and helpful and deserve a special mention.
