The photos already posted by others do show a true reflection of the rooms - clean, modern and spacious. Very close to the town centre which is great. Payment is expected over the phone prior to visit, parking is via a permit collected from the premise and with luck you can find a space in a nearby side street. Email sent to the premise prior to visit have been ignored. Looking at the recent reviews, they were done prior to the university returning as the majority of the premise seems to be used by students with noise and mess abound in the corridors.

Hello thank you for your review I can assure you our reviews on all platforms are a true representation of our Guest House and not prior to any university returning. We can only apologise for the 2 items that fell out of someones bag whilst going upstairs. If we had seen them we certainly would have removed them. The picture of rubbish on the side table was not acceptable and you would have had to walk out of your way to see that as your room was not along that landing only room 2 and room 3 walk along that hall way. I have made sure any guests do not leave rubbish outside their room. It is not a student house in any shape way or form as the guest we have in regularly are employed people to a local business. I think it is rather disturbing that you took a picture of another guests bedroom rather than your own, we can only make sure the rooms on check in are 100% but whilst you are staying with us we can not dictate as to how guest live in there rooms whilst with us. I don't think that picture of another person bedroom shows a true reflection of your stay with us. I hope that has answered all your queries. Many thanks Melanie

Booked direct, very last minute using the hotel website, after initially finding this B&B on Booking.Com Great location, with free parking available very very close, immaculate guesthouse & my en-suite double room was very smart indeed. Breakfast was also faultless and customer service very good. Il certainly be returning if I need to stay in Carlisle in the future.. all the very best, Craig.

Booked a 1 night stay in Carlisle at the end of our holiday in Cumbria. It was a fantastic stay in every possible way. From our arrival to departure. Everything was perfect and a real credit to Melanie & Graham who own and run the Cartref Guest House. Imacuatlly clean, well furnished and all amenities that you require. All the Covid-19 measures were put in place and it felt extremely safe for our entire stay. Allocated room 8 which is a lovely attic room. Great extras included in our room such as free water, biscuits, homemade treats and a can of Gin & Tonic. Quiet nights sleep, we did not hear a sound. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. Leaving our luggage till late afternoon was not a problem. The best Guest House in Carlisle in our opinion and we would not hesitate to return or reccommend a visit to all.

We stayed here while walking the wall as a group of 3 adults and a dog. We stayed in the triple en-suite. After a very wet day, we arrived early in Carlisle and our hosts kindly let us check in early. To dry off and get warm. This made a huge difference to us and was really appreciated!!!! The room was a good size and well kitted put with facilities and comfortable beds. We were treat to a delicious full American breakfast in the morning, which was included in the price and came along with a generous continental selection. Understandably there is some noise from the street in the night, due to the central Carlisle location, but ear buds were provided for those who this bothers. Overall, this place was outstandingly good value for the price and the host very accomodating. Highly recommended!
