Unclean and unsafe. Following the cancellation of a train journey at carlisle, I was given this hotel as overnight accommodation. The first room I was given had yellow stained bedsheets and duvet cover; when I reported this the receptionist said it was due to the lighting in the room. I was then moved to another room which was just as bad. The pictures speak for themselves.
The room I stayed in was clean I went to reception to ask a query and I noticed a couple members of staff smoking in the kitchen in which I was told by another of staff they always do it not very hygiene
Just spent another 2 nights at the County Hotel. Our 5th stay since lockdown restrictions eased.Great place to get away for a couple of days. If you want the Ritz or a Spa retreat then jog on. This place is cheap, always clean, comfy beds, large rooms and friendly staff. Yes, the carpet up the stairs needs replacing and rooms could be doing with updating but for the price you can't complain. The reception area has recently been done up which helps. Never had breakfast as due to Covid they only offer a breakfast in a bag but there are 2 Wetherspoons within 2 minutes walk so that is great. You are more or less in the centre of town and there is free secure parking. Wish they would do something about the bathrooms as don't like the dark red tiles. Will be back there soon.
We recently visited this hotel room 102 and what the website shows is nothing like what your given no elegant decor, no natural daylight we walked up stairs to our room and the stairs were filthy we got sent to a room that was very out dated with mismatched furniture no heating and poor tea coffee facilities out side our room was dirty laundry bags I understand the building is old but this place needs a little more than a little tlc When we went out the and receptionist was chatting away to one of the locals , not very good business On the upside the receptionist that was on in the evening was much more attentive but I do think she needs to find a better job somewhere possibly that will look after there guests better The grab bag for breakfast was awful nothing I could eat apart from an apple due to being a diabetic which they were made aware of before arrival I wanted to go and complain but my partner didn’t want to cause a fuss due to us being there for one night the room the hotel is definitely not worth the money (even if it was cheap) I would of preferred to sleep in my car…
Right in the middle of this historic town, the county HQ of Cumbria. Handy to the M74/M6. In its hey day this was a really upmarket place, but the years have made it worn, although I suspect with a complete makeover, much of the old world charm would be lost. I had a single room booked, but a very helpful receptionist offered an upgrade to a double room for £5. Good value. Excellent free wifi, and all the usual washing and tea making facilities in the room. Good TV.
