What a lovely place. A huge warm open fire greeted us along with the ever so welcoming hosts Karen and Chris. On such a foul weekend weather wise this was just the thing we needed. I like attention to detail and everything was in place right down to the home made marmalade at breakfast. Excellent accommodation and fantastic home cooked... More

I stayed for three nights whilst down on business. My room was wonderfully cozy, including a double & single bed (I slept in the single for some reason!) & I had a wonderful autumnal view of the orchard. The host was really amenable, helpful in advising me where I could go running (there's a lake at the back of the... More

Everything was perfect, we couldn't find fault with anything. Our hosts were attentive without being intrusive, friendly but not familiar. The room was clean and tidy. Will stay again. Breakfast was really good, hot and tasty cooked to perfection. Another chair in the room would have been useful but a very minor point.

This is a B&B that is well thought out, comfortable and good value. The owners were very friendly as was their utterly lovely dog! Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and the room was comfortable. You may think you have gone the wrong way, as despite the name is it is largely surrounded by modern housing (the farm lands were sold... More

We stayed for one evening on the way to the south coast. Even though we arrived quite late..about 8 pm I think the host was ever so nice about it. The rooms are clean and cosy. It was warm and well decorated to go with the farmhouse theme. The bed is comfortable and the linen are freshly laundered. There is... More

Another really enjoyable stay, not just are the rooms excellent, clean and a comfortable bed but both Chris and Karen are welcoming hosts. I've stayed in a number of rooms and Tudor was really good, it's been refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast is freshly made to order and all ingredients are of a high standard, not your usual supermarket... More

Booked one night here to attend a function in the local area. Obviously the farm has been built around and is now surrounded by a modern housing estate leaving it as a patch of old world charm in an otherwise 20th century location. My single room was warm and comfortable and the water was hot. Best bit was the breakfast... More

found it okay but thought it strange for a farmhouse, under electric pylons in a modern housing estate! We obviously had not read details properly maybe and expected a rural setting. room fine and clean but when we made a cup of tea there was no milk so my wife went down to reception and the owner insisted that staff had... We stayed here for one night to attend a wedding nearby. When we phoned and explained to the hosts the time of the weeding they allowed us an several other people to check in early. Our room was extremely pleasant and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Owners Chris & Karen Ward look forward to welcoming you to Yallands Farmhouse - our delightful Grade II Listed building dating back over 400 years, which sat amidst acres of green fields for several centuries. The expansion of Taunton during the 1970's led to new housing being built on the former farmland. The farmhouse, with its secluded garden, small orchard, and stone barn was left intact. As a result, Yallands has become an unexpected 'oasis' of peace and tranquility within a modern corner of Somerset's county town. Yallands offers self-assessed 4 star accommodation in Taunton, Somerset. The house is situated 1 1/2 miles from Taunton town centre, on the north-western edge of the town, and is easily reached from the M5 motorway - junction 25 (4 miles), and junction 26 (6 miles). For those who are reliant on public transport a local bus, with a stop at the foot of the garden, provides a frequent daytime service to and from the town centre. The lovely town centre provides excellent shopping and county cricket, horse racing, golf, theatre and other leisure facilities are all available nearby. Taunton has a good selection of restaurants and wine bars to suit most tastes and the surrounding countryside offers many delightful pubs which serve excellent food. There is ample car parking space in the private grounds together with lockable cycle storage in the stables. Why not enjoy relaxing in our gardens in the summer or sitting in front of our open fire in those cold winter months? Yallands is open all year round and - whether you are a tourist or a business visitor - you can be assured of a warm welcome and our individual attention.Yallands is particularly convenient for Taunton School, The Somerset Heritage Centre & Nuffield Hospital. ... more   less
