The hotel is set in its own grounds, just off the A1 and within a 20 min walk of Darlington town centre. A beautiful setting, with plenty of places to visit within easy distance. The hotel is badly in need of an update with regards to its decor. To say the hotel was cold is an understatement. On our arrival whilst waiting...

Had a lovely night's stay in early January and could not fault it. The room was lovely and food was beautiful. Exceptional service from the staff, all of whom were very pleasant and attentive. A good selection of drinks and food available, and the hotel is set in lovely grounds. We did not need to leave the hotel at all,...

Stopped in on our way up to Scotland, only stayed a night but wish we could have longer. The rooms are small but comfortable and well equipped. The hallways can feel a bit like a retirement home at times but the main areas, and grounds more than make up for it. Had a good breakfast and a short walk around...

Booked a special celebration one night stay with 2 course dinner via a Wowcher deal. Paid in full but never got to complete our stay. (19 th Dec 2016 Ref:DARL68088/1) My partner was bed ridden with an ear and water infection so I contacted the hotel to explain. They allowed us to re book a week later but she was...

We stayed here for 2 nights for my father in laws 80th birthday. The hotel is a little dated but the rooms were comfortable. The food was nice but we did wait a long time for our evening meal. We ate out in our second night. My father in law has a wheat and gluten allergy and the hotel staff...

Lovely hotel, grounds etc. Room very good. Christmas Day decorations on the table were brilliant, such a pity the food let it down. Would have done better at Macdonalds! the vegetables were uncooked, the turkey looked as it was cut from a turkey roll, frozen batter pudding. What a let down. Another meal Scampi & chips, 6 pcs. of small...

I'm disappointed to write this review as I do remember a time when this hotel was one of the best in the area and a favourite with my family, but sadly my experience this week was poor. There was not a particularly friendly welcome from the reception staff and this set the tone for the rest of the stay. The...

I was shocked at how poor the standards were at this hotel. Never when writing a review have I wanted to swear as much as I have about this place and I write reviews for hostels! The cleanliness was shocking, there was a huge turd in the toilet when getting to the room, jam on the remote and make up...
