Enjoying a magnificent site of the Promenade with stunning views of both of the Ormes, this lovely Victorian hotel offers guests a friendly Welsh welcome. Tastefully furnished throughout, and retaining many of the original Victorian features throughout, the hotel’s bar and lounges provide the ideal locations in which to relax. Laid back days can be spent enjoying the beach, strolling the pier or shopping in the newly opened retail development by the main shops. Alternatively, take a tram ride up the Great Orme or discover the numerous sporting pursuits that are on offer locally, too. For a getaway discovering the very essence of North Wales - a region renowned for its beautiful coastline, Celtic heritage and the grandeur of Snowdonia - you couldn’t be better placed than in Llandudno. A small car park is located at the rear of the hotel, or there is unlimited free parking at the front of the hotel.

We visited Llandudno week commencing 9th March 2020 and stayed at the County Hotel as part of a Shearings break. The hotel is in a good position right on the promenade and a few yards from the Venue Cymru. This was important for us as we had tickets to We will Rock you as part of our break. Our only problem was swiftly dealt with and that was on arrival we had been given room 230. On opening the door we were knocked back by the smell of smoke. The Housekeeper came to the room and although she said she couldn't smell it she immediately agreed to a new room. We moved to the 3rd floor and there wasn't a problem there. Food was fine in the hotel with just a bit of a "schmozzle" at breakfast as it seemed it had changed to table service rather than self service recently. People got quite agitated waiting for toast and tea. I can see the advantages of both forms of service and I am sure the hotel will review as time progresses. From a Shearings perspective, this was a very good break, the hotel perfectly situated and extremely good value for money. The tour was enhanced by Mike the Coach driver whose passion for the area was a pleasure to see and hear about. Llandudno itself seemed like a town we would want to revisit. The hotel staff were always pleasant and helpful, even in some challenging situations. I hope you survive the current difficulties as we would one day like to return to this area.

We went on a self drive Shearings wekend break. The break is good value and the room was very good overlooking the bay. Limited parking at the hotel but plenty of free parking outside. A free bottle of wine first night and 4 drinks each sacond night made this very good value. Entertainment each night very good. The staff are helpful. Meals are basic but english breakfast and 3 course evening meal.

The hotel is presented well and clean including the room I stayed in. The Hotel staff were fantastic all been pleasant and helpful. In the restaurant the food was fair, reasonable portions. Other guests were complaining about Breakfast not been a buffet style, as they had been on other Shearing's holidays. Personally I thought plate service was far better. Mike was the driver, who picked myself and other guests up from Normanton to Llandudno. As Mike comes from Wales. His knowledge of Wales is second to none . He is very informative about Wales. Which is great as he takes people on the tours around North Wales. The full day tour on Tuesday was brilliant. Popping to Anglesey, and that town with the long name, the Slate museum, Snowdonia National park, Betws Y Coed. Wednesday is an optional tour: scenic coastal drive and Conwy. Again great trip. As part of my holiday I also booked to see "We Will Rock You" at the Cymru Venue. About a five minute walk to the Venue from the Hotel and fabulous theatre it is. The show was fabulous too. Llandudno itself is a clean town retaining its Victorian look with the buildings on the promenade and with its shops. This time of the year it has very gusty winds and is prone to rain. Never the less if you like shopping it is a fifteen minute walk to those many shops. Would definitely visit for a holiday again.
