Travellers' Choice
The Belle Tout Lighthouse at Beachy Head is a hotel with a difference. Built in 1832 and decommissioned in 1902, a tea-shop, a home, part-destroyed during the second world war and lovingly rebuilt in the 50's. Owned and filmed by the BBC, moved due to erosion - and now, beautifully restored and renovated. With 360 degree views of the English Channel, beautiful landscape, countryside and the enigmatic Seven Sisters, Belle Tout is a remarkable place to stay. With themed rooms such as 'The Captains Cabin', 'Old England' and 'Keepers Loft', the accommodation and facilities will ensure a comfortable and memorable break.

I booked B&B at Belle Tout lighthouse for a surprise weekend for my husbands birthday. What an amazing weekend we had! The lighthouse is beautifully located between Beachy Head and Seven Sisters. The hosts were fantastic and breakfast specials made by Ian were divine! The other guests were all great too, great company. We could not have asked for anything more. We did not want to leave and are going to book again for next year. Amazing place - highly recommended.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Belle Tout (booked last year after seeing on some kind of antiques afternoon TV show). The lighthouse stands alone on Beachy Head with fantastic views across the English Channel on one side and the South Downs on the other. On arrival we were greeted by our host, Ian, who was very friendly and gave us the low down on everything we needed to know. We were invited for early evening drinks in the bar/reception area where we met other guests. This was a really nice touch. Our room was on the ground floor and was warm, clean and spacious with everything you needed (guest fridge situated on first floor). Plenty of tea/coffee provisions and bathroom toiletries. With large windows we were in view of other guests coming and going but this was not a problem whatsoever (blinds provided). The openess was just what we wanted. We pre ordered our breakfast which was served in the breakfast room - fantastic views from the windows. Breakfast was delightful, cooked by Ian and served by lovely Nina. Large helpings and good quality produce and certainly not rushed. Amazing views again looking out from the top of the lighthouse - another guest room. We visited one evening after returning from dinner and had a few drinks with other guests whilst listening to music! There are no restaurants particularly nearby so you do need to drive or call a cab. Or do what we did which was to walk. Highly recommend if you can, great feeling with the sea wind blowing around you. Loved it. We do hope to visit again soon and would like to thank Ian and Nina for a really different kind of bed and breakfast. Especially good for hikers. Would just like to mention (and by no means a criticism) you do hear the wind 24/7 which to me was kind of romantic and 100% part of the experience of staying in a light house😀

Just returned from a long weekend with my partner and I cannot say enough about our stay. Our hosts, Ian and Nenarrr were just brilliant . Great fun and could not do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. Weekend started with welcome drinks where we met other couples and had a brilliant evening. Breakfast…. Well…. Gordon Ramsey pack your bags!!! I had a full English, my partner the Veggie option and we both agreed one of the best breakfast we have had. Ian was very knowledgeable about the Lighthouse, which was just fab!! Room was perfect, well equipped, immaculate and extremely comfortable with Views to die for! I would recommend this place to anyone. Loved it!!!

We were warmly welcomed by the Manager Ian and his colleague Nina. They immediately asked us to join the other guests in the comfortable lounge, which has breath-taking views over the sea, for complementary drinks - a perfect start to our stay! An evening spent in the lantern room of the lighthouse watching the sunset over the sea and dramatic cliffs at Beachy Head is one that I shall never forget. This really is a truly wonderful place to stay and get away from it all. The breakfasts are also worthy of mention, as in addition to a large choice of cooked and cold options on the menu, there is a daily special which gives Ian a chance to demonstrate his chef’s skills. Absolutely delicious! We shall definitely return, but next time for longer!
