The Barceló Illetas Albatros hotel garners high marks for its cleanliness, with guests repeatedly commending the spotless rooms and well-kept facilities. Nestled in a tranquil yet accessible location, the hotel is favored by many for its proximity to Palma, beaches, and sightseeing spots. While the amenities, including the pool and breakfast options, receive positive notes, some guests believe the drinks are overpriced and the food average. The staff's professionalism and friendliness frequently receive accolades, enhancing guest experiences. Room comfort is celebrated, especially for those with sea views, though suggestions for modernizing and increasing bathroom privacy are mentioned. The hotel's atmosphere is modern, but travelers suggest enhancements for a warmer ambiance.

We stayed in Barcelo in Dominican Republic and we are really happy with the brand in general since then.

We chose the Barcelo Illetas Albatros due to this experience and they didn't disappoint. Due to the low season, there were some small hiccups with the service we received but it was a comfortable stay after all.

Here is a detailed evaluation of specifics:

Welcome: We arrived around 8 p.m. and we were welcomed at the reception. The reception staff usually stays at the back and come out if you are waiting for service but overall they are quick and welcoming. There was no mention of My Barcelo benefits which made us think that the hotel is not paying attention to it at all. (e.g., there was no free water in the room).

The room: The bed is really really comfortable. I would want that bed in my apartment. The room is also very clean with nice high quality towels. The mini bar is filled up but there was no mention of the pricing apart from the QR code. I thought the sweets were free and ate before I realised the pricing. Also the curtains in the room were a bit dirty and needs to be changed a bit more often.

There were some issues regarding the room though. There was a garlic/toilet mixed smell coming from the bathroom after our 2nd night. The ventilation in the room wasn't great and the A/C was only
heating and not cooling (due to winter season I guess). So we requested a room change.
The hotel interiors: Really clean everywhere you go. It offers everything you would need on a city break or even a summer holiday (however we were there in winter season and couldn't use the outdoor pool or private beach). The private beach area could use some care since it is quite dangerous to walk around there with slippery rocks and stuff.

Restaurant: The food is good and fresh. They have omelettes freshly made for you in the mornings and grills in the evenings. The salad buffet is a bit limited and the food gets redundant after 4 days+nights eating there but overall happy with the friendly service and healthy good quality food.

Location: We rented a car to see around the island so the location wasn't a concern. But there isn't much to do if you don't have a car and it is winter season. The bus service to palma is quite frequent though. The parking is not free at the hotel but the nearby free car park just worked great if you don't mind climbing up the stairs from there to the hotel.

Overall: Had a good stay. There are some minor hick-ups but we felt safe & clean

Dear Mery, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to learn of the disturbance caused by the air conditioning unit in your room and regret not being immediately informed as we would have been able to send a technician and have it repaired in no time, for you to fully enjoy your stay. On a future occasion please do not hesitate to contact our reception desk for anything we may do to ensure your experience is completely satisfying. Your mention of the beach restaurant did not go unnoticed and rest assured that we will be passing this information on. Nevertheless, at Barceló we know that meals are an important aspect of our guests' overall holiday experience, which is why our Chefs prepare a wide variety of delicacies for each service to cater to all dietary requirements and please the most demanding palates; we are therefore happy that we could delight your taste buds. Your enthusiasm for our team is very much appreciated and will be a great source of motivation, we will certainly not hesitate to convey your compliments to all of them. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back on future occasions. Best regards, Jaime Cañellas Maura, General Manager

My Mum and I had a lovely trip here. We booked a double room with a sea view and it was worth every penny! The staff are all wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance of local restaurants and beaches, although it has its own pool and private beach cove. The city of Palma is only 20mins away by car and there is a bus stop which is easily accessible which can take you there.
With regards to covid, everyone complied with mask wearing, social distancing and sanitising. Opposite the hotel you can get a covid test at the medical centre but they also have the option of coming into the hotel too.
The breakfast buffet is quite extensive with options for everyone. We loved sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea whilst eating our breakfast. It was such a peaceful stay without children which made it that extra bit relaxing
Would 100% recommend staying here!

We purposely booked here as we were drawn by the appeal of the hotel being adult only. We did have a very mild panic a few weeks before we stayed as it was not made clear to us by our tour operator that the age restriction is overdue 17 years as our daughter's 17th birthday is not until the end of July, but a quick phone call to the hotel to explain and they were very accommodating as it was less that 2 weeks before her 17th birthday when we stayed.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and could not do enough to make us feel welcome. The rooms were decorated to a high standard and were light and airy. The beds were possibly the most comfortable we have slept on in any hotel we have stayed at.

The entire hotel was spotlessly clean, and wherever you turned you were always met by someone cleaning wether it be mopping the floors, or cleaning the toilets to the man we bumped into polishing the lifts at 9 o'clock in the evening.

We ate in the buffet restaurant on our first night and in the poolside restaurant during the day. The food was well presented and there was a good selection to choose from. Breakfast was the normal buffet style selection you would expect with plenty of choice available.

The pool area does get busy early reserving sun lounges is strongly discouraged and we did witness the life guard removing towels from loungers which were not in current use to allow others to use them. There are sun terraces on the rocks and a small pebble cove, which is billed as private to the hotel, however we did notice a few locals on a couple of occassions, they however kept themselves to themselves and did not disturb hotel guests.

There is a small spa area below the pool, which we found to be a great way of cooling off. It has a hot tub, small pool and sauna and steam room all of which were relatively empty most of the time. There is also the opportunity to have a variety of treatments from a simple massage to head and neck reflexology.

All in all we had a wonderful 10 night stayed and it certainly recharged the batteries working for the NHS it was just the tonic we needed after a couple of very challenging years and would strongly consider returning for another visit.

Dear Gerry, Thank you very much for your kind feedback. Our rooms are uniquely designed with an open floor plan which we understand is a question of personal taste. If you don’t choose the food cooked individually for you, all the rest of the food, breakfast and dinner, is cold. It spoils the meals unnecessarily. If the food was hot, I’d reset the hotel 4.5/5
The individual food at lunch is lovely.
The staff are first class, the pool is salt, ie less chlorine and delightful, we swam in the sea twice a day and it was perfect - appeared very clean.
There’s free Cava at breakfast and Haribo to go with your ice cream at dinner. Perfect. If you work at choosing your food, it’s lovely and the house white and rose wine is more than adequate. The beds are firm, rooms are very clean and while some people moan about the wash basin being ‘in the bedroom’, I think the bedroom design, lighting, opaque shower wall etc are all cleverly thought out.
The bus stop is directly outside and getting to and from Palma, and especially the airport was easy and cheap - bus A1 for 5 euros followed by bus 4 for 2 euros. I reckon the best rooms are any floor from 01 to 04, ie full sea view. So 101 to 104, or 201 to 204 etc. We were in 206 which was ‘partial view’ and suited us. Very relaxing stay and would go again.

location southwest of Palma OK because of easy bus #10 access to town; rooms with small porch had terrific views, morning buffet breakfasts amazing, evening restaurant options limited - we did not want the evening "special" so had "a la carte" salmon but no side dishes or bread so even though delicious it was too pricey for the dish. We did not eat at the restaurant again except for the breakfasts. Staff extremely helpful, clean hotel, ridiculous they charged for parking with such high prices in the offseason

Dear Billa, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. Thank you for your feedback on the car park price. We understand that additional fees can be inconvenient and do everything in our power to keep this rate as low as possible in line with other nearby hotels with this service. On the other hand, we are thrilled to read your compliments about our team as we strive to provide our guests with caring and personalized service. We place great value on our personnel being guest-orientated and welcoming at all times. We would like to believe that our breakfast represents healthy eating habits that have become a better way to live while travelling. We strive to provide guests with new experiences by introducing local, natural, organic, plant-based and seasonal products and are delighted that this was appreciated. At last, we are very pleased to know that you liked the room we accommodated you in. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back on future occasions. My partner and I stayed here for a week and had a lovely stay.
The hotel itself has, as of July 2021, a buffet restaurant for breakfast (and dinner if booked) and a bar near the pool for drinks and snacks. This was fine for us as we were keen to explore the local areas in the evening.

We booked a superior room, which is the basic room, and only realised after booking that not all of them come with a balcony. We emailed the hotel to request a room with a balcony, and was pleased that they managed to accommodate this request when we checked in.
I must say that all the staff in the hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

There is a fairly small pool with plenty of sun loungers for the number of guests, plus a private small beach. The only thing that would make it better is more parasols please - there were not enough to go around.
Sadly the spa was closed, and the gym you had to book by appointment, which we didn’t find very convenient.

The hotel is in a good location - a short walk to Illetes in one direction and Cala Major in the other, both of which have a good selection of restaurants to choose from. Port Cala Nova is a short walk away and offers watersports, plus also has two exceptional restaurants.
Palma is a 20 minute taxi ride away.

Overall we would definitely stay here again - the hotel and location were perfect for our needs.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel for 10 nights. The weather was great and although late Feb we had sunshine every day. Great Hotel and the views are truly amazing. We started with a standard room which was fine but upgraded to a Sea view room which was well worth the extra cost. We found all the staff to be professional friendly and helpful. We had half board and the food choice for breakfast and the evening meal is excellent.
I would definitely go back to this Hotel.

Nice view, shame about the remainder.
OK so we've been to the Barcelo hotel in Costa Adeje Tenerife 3 times in the past year so you get a bit spoilt although on the latest trip their food had nose-dived.
Next time we're going room only.
OK Barcelo Illetas Majorca.
Great view, staff trying really hard but the food was luke-warm at best and the rooms are very small. Went in February and unfortunately most of the local restaurants were closed as it's off season, shame that, had to put up with the hotel offering of luke-warm dinner.
Wouldn't go back again.

The hotel had really found a good method to try and welcome tourists back safely. Face mask rules respected by all, plenty of sanitiser and clever breakfast system. Superb seafront location , hotel quiet and relaxing. Whilst sea view rooms give a genuinely great view the rooms are small and bathroom far too integral to the room.

This was a very last minute trip with my husband. The hotel was already almost full so we only had the option for a standard room. The room was compact but very clean and perfect for what we needed; we would usually like a balcony and a view but we didn't spend much time in the room so this didn't bother us. They have tea making facilities and toiletries available in the rooms.
The hotel facilities are lovely and clean and the staff are super helpful and friendly. We booked bed and breakfast, there was a variety of choices every morning that did not disappoint. The pool and surrounding areas were beautiful, with fantastic views and plenty of sunbeds, they also provided clean pool towels daily, which was a nice touch. There are a few small cove beaches near by too.
The area is quiet, there are a few restaurants within walking distance but busses are cheap and regular so you can visit nearby villages. We went to Puerto Portals, Cala Major, into Palma city and took a trip to soller. The location was perfect for us, we wanted quiet and relaxing but also the option for more lively with sightseeing, all which we easily achieved.

I would definitely come back to this hotel.
