We are a family of 3 whom this year decided to travel on holiday to the northern and western parts of Norway, where we started first in Trondheim, then on to Mo i Rana, further to Narvik, Alta, then Kirkenes, Honningsvåg (and Nordkapp), then Hammerfest, Tromsø, Harstad, Leknes - Lofoten, Sandnessjøen, Stiklestad - Trondheim, to this hotel in Molde before continuing our journey. We have mostly stayed at Scandic hotels so far in all cities except in Honningsvåg. This hotel is beautifully located right by sea with great sea views, very nice city and the service is very good, the Master suite rooms are very spacious, quiet area but sadly no air conditioning, so way too hot for us on this hot summer night. The journey via Kristiansund and the Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsveien) is very spectacular. Well worth a visit if you can travel there off the warmest season.

Room Tip: Travel off the hottest season, as the rooms are like staying in a bake oven during hot summer...

We had booked a family room and got one on the first floor in the connected building. Outside temperatures were about 22 degrees and with the askew front of the hotel, our room was 35 degrees inside, with just a small window and no air conditioning. No sun screens. We got a couple of fans in the reception, but it didn’t help much. We didn’t get a lot of sleep the two nights we stayed. The sheets were acrylic, that didn’t help much either. One of the lamps in our room didn’t work and wasn’t fixed when asked. The mini fridge was not functioning and a sketchy extension cord was under our bed. Cleaning was limited to a change of towels. The upside of our stay was the breakfast, which we enjoyed.
