I stayed at the clarion hotel for two nights while visiting Trondheim for business. At first, I regretted having booked a hotel that was not in the middle of the city center. But the regret did not last long. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from downtown, and you can reach pretty much everything by foot. Also, the area along the fiord is perfect for a morning run or an evening walk. The hotel is rather big and appears very modern, and the rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and of decent size. I particularly enjoyed the top-floor bar and restaurant, which is perfect for a drink before going to bed. But the breakfast is still the best part and is in my opinion the best hotel breakfast in Trondheim. There is a wide selection of everything, including different types of fresh bread, a variety of fresh smoothies, and a barista making great coffee.

Hotel's Favourite
I've stayed a handful of times at Clarion Hotel Trondheim the last year. Due to the pandemic few hotels have been open, but Clarion has stayed open, also serving as a quarantine hotel for some time. My stays here have all been excellent. It's a great location if you're in town for work, with a easy access parking garage and close location to the city centre and a lot of workplaces by the pier. Breakfast was solid, and the restaurant and bar on the top floor delivers stunning view and great food. I'll always be back here when I'm working in Trondheim.

I highly reccomend a stay at Clarion Hotel Trondheim while visiting the city. The location is excellent - very central and close to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing - and at the same time situated in a quiet and calm area of the city. The service at the hotel is top notch. I have stayed in several hotels where our dog has accompanied us on our travels. This summer we stayed at Clarion Trondheim twice with our dog. I have to say im almost touched by the warm welcoming from the reception staff while checking in with our dog :-)

It’s my first time trying Clarion Hotel, spent two nights here with my wife. Unfortunately, my overall experience was quite disappointing. After 10 hours of train travel coming from Bodø, we arrived at almost midnight. All we wanted to do was to take a shower and finally go rest and sleep. We couldn’t do that because, first of all, when going into the room, there was a bit of bad smell in the room, secondly, when taking a shower I fastly found my feet soaking in water and the whole bathroom was flooded. That was because the sink of the shower wasn’t clean. I would’ve unclogged it myself but thinking about it, this is something totally unacceptable especially in this price range! Also, the shower gel dispenser and tissue paper dispenser were empty, I don’t want to imagine what else was overlooked or missed when the room was ‘cleaned’, something that as a guest I shouldn’t even think about especially because we’re having a pandemic ongoing. We didn’t sleep that well because it was very warm in the room even though we tried several times to lower down the temperature through the air condition system. The next morning, we left the air condition on(we left one of our cards in the card insert of the room) so that it would cool the room when we would get back. I also told the reception about the shower incident and the girl took my complain in a very superficial way as if it was a completely normal thing. When we got back to the hotel that day we were expecting the room to be cool, that did not happen at all and it was still at 25 degrees. I called the reception to tell them that our A/C wasn’t working properly and the girl told me that it would take some time because it’s warm outside and there’s the sun. I told her that an A/C should be working even if it’s hot outside and there was the sun, she replied saying that what is in the room is not actually an air condition system but a ‘temperature regulator’!!!! (what does that even mean?!) Can’t help but ask myself then, why do you have written in the room’s «Facilities included»: «Air conditioning» if that’s not the case? Another happening is that we needed to leave early to catch our train at the station we asked the reception the evening before about the possibility to have a packed breakfast and if we need to book it first. They said that we don’t need to book it and that we’ll find prepacked to-go breakfast packages that we would just need to grab and go. That wasn’t the case because when we asked the kitchen staff about it they didn’t know anything about it and they gave us a paper bag each to make our own takeaway. It’s good that we came down earlier or else we would’ve lost our train. To be fair, some positive things about our experience are the normal breakfast buffet that we had the day before was actually good and the location of the hotel itself was pretty nice. This was my first time trying Clarion, was I satisfied? Totally not. Would I try it again, maybe it was just an isolated case? I honestly don’t know.

Dear jeyziness First of all let me apologize sincerely for taking such a long time to get back to you and for everything you experienced during your stay. I am honestly, truly sorry, and it seems like everything that could go wrong actually went wrong this time. I completely understand your frustration, and a lot of what you describe is just not acceptable. I do hope, however, that we could get in touch somehow and we'll do our very best to sort this out for you. I also hope that you somehow will be able to give us a second chance next time you come to Trondheim. We'll show you the real us, and make sure to give you that great stay you should have had in the first place. Please accept my apologies and I hope to hear from you soon! Kind regards Trine Steinsbø Hotel Manager Clarion Hotel Trondheim
