We were super impressed by the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and the proximity to the train and site seeing that we wanted to do on our last minute trip to OSLO. We chose this hotel because we had and early flight to Stockholm and it had better reviews than another comparable hotel in the area. We joined the Scandic Loyalty Program upon booking and we were very glad that we did. When we arrived at the hotel a little early after arriving on the train from the Oslo Airport, we went directly to the hotel (literally a couple minute walk from the train station) to see if we could drop off our luggage or if possible check in early if they had a room available. Fortunately they did have a room available for an early check in, and because of the loyalty program, we didn't have to pay the minor extra charge for checking in early. Staff was so accomodating and friendly and the room was super comfortable. The shower was also great! Great water pressure and super hot water. Loved the decor in the lobby. After sightseeing, my husband and I hung out on the very comfortable couches for about and hour just listening to the music in the lobby and reading our Kindle books. Excellent first experience with the Scandic brand and we will definitely book with Scandic again in the future if our travels bring us in their market. …
A perfect stay in Oslo. Nice room with a nice bathroom and really excellent beds. Perfect location near everything: the main railway station Oslo S., Oslo Spektrum/Spectrum, Byporten shopping mall, Østbanehallen (with several restaurants), Karl Johan (Oslo's main street), Deichmanske (new library), the Edvard Munch museum, the Oslo Opera House etc. etc. Perfect location in downtown Oslo. Short walking distance to everything. Cosy and intimate lobby bar. A good breakfast at nearby Egon restaurant. The staff is really helpful and friendly. Scandic Byporten is my personal first choice of hotels in central Oslo
Well situated hotel next to the train station and walkable to everything. Clean and quiet. Rooms are very small and we were only given two teabags which were not replaced. Breakfast is next door at Egon, very good choice but the odd layout of the place means a lot of walking. I’d already done over 1,000 steps before leaving!
Nice place , good location but it's quite noisy as it's right next to the central station. The staff are absolutely a delight and will make you feel very welcome . Looking forward to come back. The restaurant is very nice and it has lot of eating joints and you will never get bored .
We spent one night at this hotel when we first arrived in Oslo. It is located right beside the central train station so is very conveniently located. The entrance (in the Byporten shopping mall) was a bit challenging to see from the plaza outside the station due to a construction fence. The front desk staff were friendly and explained to us that breakfast was included at the Egon Restaurant next door (excellent breakfast by the way). Our room on the 5th floor overlooked the plaza and tram station and wasn’t overly noisy. The room was a bit small, but had everything that we needed. There was no air conditioning, but there is a fan that we didn’t use since the night was cool. I’m not a fan of duvets on the bed and would have preferred a sheet to cover up with, but did use the duvet once the night became colder. We would definitely stay here again.…
The main reason for not giving a better score is price! Over 3000 NOK for a 6hr stay. In order to catch the morning train we were given breakfast to go. Delivered by the restaurant chain Egon. No knife to butter the bread (butter was included) and no spoon for the youghurt either
Strategic position close to the central station of Oslo with a perfect soundproofing (not noise at all!). Some rooms have also a good view on the Oslo fjord and on the station square. Breakfast is served in a separate restaurant of Egon chain.
Nice stay, the cleaning was not good, but was fixed when we made the reception aware about it. The breakfast was nice in the location at Egon restaurant. The Hotel location is perfect. Quiet despite the location next to Oslo central station
Nice rooms, situated in de City center 50 m from Karl Johan and train station. Friendly personel and good breakfast in cooperation with Egon. Due high season one should select a lock time for breakfast but its worth it. Very good.
I used to stay in this hotel a decade ago. It was new and nice then but it is too old and too crowded. So I will not consider it again unless some major changes, rehabilitation and renovation are done in the near future.
