bad experience at Hotel Clarion Savoy. The room was dirty from day one, and on several occasions it was not cleaned, despite being requested. The buffet dinner is poor and includes Just a side dish, a soup and a second. there is no choice. Table service is absent. the only positive things are the free hot drinks and the abundant breakfast with quality products in the Eik restaurant on the ground floor, and not in the room on the second floor where a sort of dinner is consumed for the guests. disappointment for being a 4 star hotel
We were upgraded to a larger room as there was a group that needed our original one. Our room was spacious with a very large bathroom with a shower over bath . It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Only downside was it was very noisy especially if you wanted the window open. The breakfast was very good and set you up well for the day. The bonus was lovely tea/coffee and cake in the afternoon followed by an early supper at 6pm. These suppers were delicious and well cooked and exceptional quality. Don’t miss these suppers they save you a fortune . Overall the hotel was excellent and only 5 min walk from Nationaltheatre train station.
I had not stayed in this hotel for 30 years - as I usually choose hotels in Oslo depending on walking distance to wherever I am going, but after this I will consider staying here more often, especially when on business. I had checked in and paid in advance on the hotel chain app, but there was still some mix-up when retrieving my room key in the reception - with some extra waiting time. The (standard) room was spacious, but the bathroom was tiny! However, everything seemed clean. There was a desk, but the chair was a bit too low for my taste. The breakfast buffet was nice, except the bacon was like stone. Not crispy, but HARD. But there was many other things to choose from, so.... What is nice with this hotel is that they serve a evening meal for their guests. Nothing fancy, but quite good and filling.…
Hotel is good quality, good location, staff are nice. But the most important thing of this hotel is that they feed you a GOOD breakfast and dinner, with tea and cakes in the afternoon as well. This is important because food in Oslo is EXPENSIVE and difficult to find. You might look at the cost for a night, whatever it is, and think "Ah, too high, I'll pick a cheaper place". But eating in Oslo either means 7/11 hot dogs, or meals that will set you back 20-30 euro per person. For every person who stays at the hotel, you say up to 50 euros in the cost of feeding that person, unless you want to exist off of sandwiches and hot dogs. Consier that when buying. Breakfast was a traditional Norwegian meal with all types of good breads, jams, cheeses, fish, plus yoghurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, croissants, and more. Lots of it was quite uniquely Norwegian. Dinner had delicious meat, potato, soup, bread and veggies. Seemed fairly Norwegian. Warning, it was the same each night though. My friend and I found both very delicious, I could not imagine somebody complaining about either, unless they stayed for a full week, by which I could imagine getting tired of the food by the end. Eat well at these two meals, and all you'll need to spend money on food during the day is perhaps a sandwich. Norwegian food is "meh", you're not missing out on anything by not eating out. Other reviews can tell you about the hotel itself, it's a nice hotel, same as nice hotels anywhere, including many others in Oslo. But not having to worry about food was by far the biggest relief, and made this unique. Consider that when picking hotels, because picking a hotel thats 30 euro cheaper a night won't be worth it if they don't offer breakfast or dinner.…
When I book hotels in 2020, my number one priority on any hotel is "Evening Meal". When I'm on business trip, I do not want or need to visit a restaurant. I am traveling by myself, and all I need is some hot food during the day while finishing work from today or making everything ready for the next day. Being able serve yourself with whatever is on the menu is great. In case you are wondering, Hotel Savoy serves evening meals. And I like it.
Overall excellent stay at the Savoy Clarion hotel in Oslo: location, comfort, cleanliness, staff. The breakfast provides a lot of options, whatever your diet is. The complimentary evening meal, as well as the afternoon 'fikka' are lovely additions as well. The downtown location is perfect for any business or tourism travellers. Highly recommended!
The Clarion Collection hotel Savoy in Oslo offers lots of charm and friendliness; it’s not a big hotel, but it’s right in the center of Oslo, close to Karl Johansgate and the royal castle. They offer both free breakfast, afternoon coffee and snacks in their lounge, and a light evening meal – convenient and economic when visiting expensive Oslo. Being a “classic” hotel, my room needed a little updating, as I could clearly see its age, but everything was clean, with no funny smells. I stayed on the fourth floor with a street view, but if you want a quieter room I recommend asking for a courtyard view room. All in all a pleasant stay, and I’ll certainly consider this hotel again for my next stay in Oslo!
Been there two nights, room having huge maintenance issues and cleaning. Maybe cleaning is at maximum limits within rooms issues. Front desk stuff are nice, breakfast is average and dinner what is offered is so-so... first night i do not like what was offered and second night was eatable, i can notice this is more-less Asian food type. Hotel do not have parking, but there is parking near by, but finding a way to parking with car is a lottery... and i parked at wrong one, since there are many parking lots and need to be more careful. Since many Norwegians use hotel rooms to party on Friday and Saturday we have a same problem with them. From outside and restaurant-bar you get impression this is a good choice but in end not so good.
First of all great service! I requested a tub wich I got, but also an upgrade of the room! Very pleasant and kind receptionist. Room was spacy. Might be a little bit tired and old, but bed was comfy and room was clean. Was a little disappointed with the afternoon sweets as I thought there would be more types of coffee to choose from and it was just one type of cake. But evening meal and breakfast was great and tasty! Still missed a coffee machine with several options at breakfast though, but that's just to be picking on something. All in all nice experience and good location. Might be noisy if you have a room facing the streets because of the traffic and trams passing by, but that didn't bother me.
