To me Scandics are a go to for hotels in Scandinavia. They represent good value and good quality. To my surprise, the same can not be said for this Scandic. We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we’d stayed elsewhere after the first. The hotel is situated right on the harbour, which is a bonus under normal circumstances. What it meant here is that we had a close up view of industrial ships and were subjected to the noise coming from their generators, which ran all night. We paid for a superior room, although I doubt we received it as it was located on the 4th of six floors, was tiny and a bit shabby. The tea and coffee making facilities were absent of milk, a discovery we made first thing in the morning. Apparently the milk would go bad, according to reception staff, which is odd as there was an empty mini fridge in the room which was operational and there is always UHT milk to resolve that issue in any case. This fact seemed to have evaded staff and management. This minor issue added insult to injury because I had to ask to be relocated to the opposite side of the hotel at 1.30 am in order to get away from the noise from the harbour. This meant packing all our stuff in the early hours and moving. We won’t be returning and will reserve Scandic hotels with caution going forward as they appear not to be able to maintain their own standards.…
Airport express bus at the hotel door . Nice wide variety breakfast. the view from junior suite was marvelous . Quite room . Nice friendly staff. Meeting point for some of the tour guide . Comfy bed we requested extra below and bed cover and the lady at the reception brought it her self
We stayed for 5 nights in August 2022 and the hotel is in an excellent location within Tromso. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival as the room had a fantastic view over the port. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom; tea and coffee making facilities and some toiletries were provided. The breakfast was of fantastic quality with a huge range of food, we thoroughly enjoyed this daily. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and felt it was good value for money.
The room was OK, if you need it only to sleep in your room. It was clean, a little bit noisy though from the pub nearby. The breakfast was good, a lot to choose from. The coffee was not tasty at all, but was saved the barista that opened the coffee bar after a while. Really good cappuccino.
The hotel was beautiful, better than the usual and expected Scandic-quality. Location was great, although the parking lot was expensive and ended up getting a parking fine for not understanding a norwegian sign. There was one lovely receptionist lady, others didnt really care. Rooms were very hot! But this hotel was 10x better than the other one - that experience was horrible.
We were here after a 2 weeks cruise, and it was a good decision. We received a room with a nice view. The personnel was also helpful, before my stay, they reserved us a taxi, which the ship was not ready to do. They had a good breakfast. The price is a little bit high for other small European cities but is usual in Norwegian.
A perfect location on the water, close to manin attractions in Tromsø, walking distance to most, and public transport very close. Limited parking, but central parking in town, 4 minute walk from the hotel . Friendly staff and good service, helping us pick the places to see, the tours to attend, the hikes, all suited to our best interests. Room with a view,! Excellent breakfast, something for all tastes.Nice recoemmendations for dining out
We got down from cruise ship and entered the hotel barely 30 yards. The view from room was great facing the water. The downtown and all eating joints were within 5 minutes walk. Complimentary tea and coffee round the clock.
Very good location, big nice room, friendly staff, delicious breakfast with real espresso. It is just a pity that the big blue ship under the window does not stop his engine during the night. I recommend this hotel,
My stay at this hotel was absolutely fabulous. A sixth floor room with a panoramic view of the bay! Admittedly the room was small, but it had all the comforts, even an armchair that you can't find anywhere else. The breakfast is sumptuous in a more than pleasant setting, with a view of the port.
