I stayed there for two nights only, and I really liked, the hostel is kind of far, but the public transportation works very well and you can go to anywhere without problems. About the facilities they have a good infrastructure, nice rooms, very clean, and the shower have a good water pressure. They have toilets outside the rooms too. The...

We stayed 2 nights at the Hostel. Yes it is far from the city , but everybody knows that. You can buy bus tickets from the reception. The bus stops right in front of the hostel (bus nr. 46A or 46B) and it takes you in 10 mins to the last U-bahn stop (Ottakring) , from where you take the...

Was a wonderful hostel with 5 star facilities and staff. I would thoroughly recommend to all travellers. The hostel is a little far from the Center of the CBD yet the view is stunning and so worth the effort. Vienna us expensive so take advantage of the views and creature comforts in offer.

This hostel was perfect in my opinion. The staff were nice from the begining 'till the end of our stay that lasted for about 12 days. It's far from the city but you could get there in no time. The view from our room was awesome and the place was really relaxing. We used to take breakfast every morning which...

Clean tidy basic hostel. Two bunks per room with ensuite. If lucky you'll be city view side with door to the garden. A real sun trap. Ideal for these clod days. No kitchen! Easy access to city on public transport. Public car park here too. All in a good stay.

I had a really bad time in this hostel. Mainly because they offer no kitchen. No cooker, no plates, no cutlery, no glasses, nothing. Only a microwave and a cooler. Problem is that this hostel is completely out of the city. So you are left with not many opitions. Basically, they expect you to feed on frozen food or biscuits...

This is a nice hosel but a little far from the city centre but the connectivity to reach from one place to another is so good that you won't be bothered by it. It takes about 20 minutes to reach from the hostel to the city centre and the bus frequency is quite good. We had a four bed dorm...

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).

“Rooms on the first floor have better views of the city and are recommended if you are travelling with children because the rooms on the ground floor have doors to the garden and the street. However, if you are wit friends/significant other, and would like to lounge and enjoy the evenning outside (especially in the summer), ground-floor rooms might be a better choice.”
