The room I stayed in this hotel is huge, nice and clean. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is not really close to the main touristic spots, but you can reach them by metro easily after a few minutes.

This small privately run hotel has been in the same family for 100 years. It is very clean, nice rooms, free wifi. When I checked in Patricia (one of the owners) was out but a very pleasant only German speaking lady checked me in and showed me my room, we managed even with a language barrier. Rooms have mini bar...

this hotel looks great from the outside , however, the breakfast room looks like a junk shop. the staff were very unfriendly , we were charged 20 euro for an extra breakfast. the hotel is far from the city, it is the last stop on the rail.

The hotel is not central in Vienna, but thanks to the public transport, the best I have ever seen in the world, you can be at the Stephansplatz in 20 minutes. Basically it is a 10 minute walk to the U-Bahn station Ottakring or a 5 minute walk to the tram that will take you to the Museumsquartier or to...

I highly recommend staying at HOtel Schwalbe. It's located outside the city center in a quiet, residential area that appears to be very safe. The metro is less than a 10 minute walk away from the hotel (very easy to find) and the metro ride is about 10 minutes into the city center (inner stadt). The hotel itself is extremely...

The area around this hotel is very quiet and seemed quite safe for walking at night and for leaving a car parked all day (there were lots of nice cars parked in the neighborhood and plenty of available parking places). The U3 is a very short walk from the hotel and will get you to the Center in about 12...

The room was bright and cheerful. Mine was a single, but I caught a glimpse of a double, and it seemed to be a good size. The proprietors are a mother and daughter and they were wonderful! Very helpful. Seems to be primarily businessmen during the week, but on weekends a more mixed group of guests. Breakfast was the standard,...

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).

“I had a rooms with shared toilets, I guess this is because of the problems getting blumbing into some rooms - (my room had lots of space for a toilet) so this is not a sign of cheapness or lack of quality”
