I have stayed here before. Quite simply one of my favourite hotels in the world. A true oasis of calm and serenity. If only they could find that wasps nest as it really spout breakfast to the extent we didn’t go after the first day. It will be close by trust me.
My review is based upon yesterday's observations as a casual visiting guest, not staying overnight, but rather enjoying the venue, its rooftop terrace garden bar, and the scheduled piano concert carried out by Fever for their Candlelight Concerts. So me and a dear old friend arrived to the venue on a roasting early summer evening (yesterday June 30th) and were greeted by an exceptionally charming young man by the name of George. He quickly established our need to refresh ourselves with a drink from upstairs, but we were somewhat concerned about the time frame as we had less than 30 minutes before the concert started. George assured us we would be able to take the drinks with us and so as not to loose any more precious time, he swiftly pressed the lift for us to the rooftop terrace (but he had to stay downstairs as he was on his own at the time). We arrived upstairs and sadly nobody greeted us upon arrival, we ourselves had to find someone to ask for drinks and to be seated. Furthermore the young lady servant had no idea about the concert and was surprised that we intended to take the drinks with us due to time constraints. We assured her that we enquired about that at reception downstairs and she quote said: "Well if he said so then it must be fine." (I couldn't swear that it was accompanied with a sarcastic undertone but I would have preferred a straight confirmation of 'yes of course you can'). Rather than offering us a check to pay right away my friend decided to take care of the bill after she made 2 sips from her Campari Soda so as not to cause any delays (clock was ticking). It took her way too long (it felt like at least 5 minutes) to pay at the bar and by the time we wanted to get the lift, George was already here to help us. I am somewhat handicapped with having to use a crutch, so he was kind enough to take me and our drinks up to the concert room in the main building via a lift. He was so diligent that he even took us to the very seat with our glasses and bowl of nuts. The concert was very enjoyable (despite not quite to the level we had expected but that is another review; plus it was a bit too short for our liking) and we crossed path again with George on our way out of the building. Summing up I think our first impressions of Palais Coburg was saved and definitely greatly driven by George's active approach on taking ownership of the given situation. The rooftop bar was a service disappointment and I truly think this is a lost (business) opportunity not to fully communicate within the house of Coburg that there will be 2 scheduled concerts in the building that evening. I would have created a mini bar (nothing fancy or elaborate) right upstairs in the foyer en route to the concert room for people to pick up their drinks as they arrive for the concert. Imagine how many people would have happily used and paid for this welcomed refreshment!! Extra income to be made in a time when everything counts! Which manager has overlooked this opportunity?…
First visit and definitely the last. The ambiance was very pleasant in the garden and the young woman who seated me and waited on me was most friendly. Ordered the traditional Viennese dish Tafelspitz. It was a big disappointment even if it was modernized as the kind waitress said the beef was not very tender and the flavor of the condiments and sauces were very uninteresting. The aperitif the Clementine special was pleasant but my food was brought too soon and I didn’t get to leisurely enjoy it. That is very unusual in Austria where a meal can last for way over an hour usually one and a half. I was being rushed up as it was at the end of the dining hour and the help wanted to get ready for the next event. All that even though they accepted my reservation at 2:00 pm. Nothing can compare to the ambiance and tradition of one of the old standby Hotels such as the Hotel Imperial where you can get the best food and service.…
Our trip to stay at the Palais Coburg in Vienna was 5 days long and it was not long enough! I was delighted by the Palais Coburg and all of its luxurious amenities. The pool and fitness center were delightful, bright, and sparkling clean. The staff was wonderfully warm and helpful. Tamara, Asheesh, Philip, “Maverick”, Krisztina, & others at the front desk went above and beyond with incredibly attentive, informative, and kind service. Breakfasts in the conservatory were scrumptious and the Winter Garden Conservatory was a bright an airy venture for our delicious meals. Our suite was sumptuous and well-appointed, with gorgeous high ceilings, large windows, and an array of specialty items to make us feel at home and welcome. The fridge was stocked with waters and beverages, and snacks, which was so thoughtful and appreciated after two full days of travel from the West Coast of the USA to Europe. Housekeeping was attentive, quiet, and left the suite sparkling every day and night. Couldn’t be more pleased with our stay and we can’t wait to return. Danke!…
We have just returned from staying here and I do not usually write reviews but felt I must. The hotel is beautiful and suite we had ( Dom Fernando) lovely but what really made it was the staff. The reception team were fabulous helping us to navigate the world of testing and vaccine emails, even calling the test centre for us. The attention to detail was outstanding. Every member of staff wished our son Happy Birthday despite us never mentioning it, even giving him a birthday surprise at breakfast.Nothing was too much trouble. If only every hotel gave such a high level of service. Thank you for a wonderful stay I do hope we can return one day.
No wonder that this is one of the best luxury hotels of the world, every detail is thought after and every suite is unique and amazingly designed and presented. The Michelin restaurant is to die for the wine cellars and there are 6 of them is one of the most luxurious in the world with 60,000 bottles of the best wines valued dozens of millions of dollars in first class unique wines.
This hotel is super luxurious, and was originally a Palace. Even the lead in room category is stunning, as is a suite, and a very luxurious and spacious suite as well, set over 2 levels. The room is so lovely, it is tempting not to leave, but leave you must to enjoy both the hotel, and the delights of Vienna. The hotel has amazing meeting rooms, so great for a family party, or a wedding, and part of the old city walls, form part of the hotel. For history buff's this is a must, as it is steeped in history, and previous royal occupants and their relatives adorn the walls. There is a lovely garden, especially in Spring and Summer, as well as a great bar and wine cellar. The restaurant serves a limited breakfast menu, however everything is cooked to perfection, and so fresh and flavoursome, the lack of options does not matter. This is a great place to stay, to feel you are part of the history of Vienna, but central and luxurious at the same time.…
The best small hotel in Vienna. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is nice even service is not so fast. Sasha on the entrance made me feel like very welcome guest. Internet was ok. Room service works. Spa is nice.
This is a hotel/residence that can't quite make up its mind. The place is quite minimal in ambiance and decor, but very roomy. The staff is very helpful and the restaurants (dinner and breakfast) are excellent (but slow). The major drawback: the fitness room is terrible. They know it and were more than helpful in getting us into the fitness facility at the Marriott, a two minute walk.
Very historical and rich with authentic architecture details place - huge spaces, many levels, lovely bar interior and very friendly reception. I am visiting a course there, but the location itself is precious.
